Most of us want to succeed in life; want to achieve our goals; want to make our ideas become realities, and make a great living. We think about business ideas to make us rich and comfortable. We want to be our own boss and run the business the way we want to run it. Some people have the self-esteem to actually do something and take those first steps toward owning a business. Success in business broads self-esteem which in turn is directly connected to self-improvement.
That’s wonderful. You had the courage to step into the unknown. Early on your enthusiasm will drive you. If you like the business you’ve picked, your enthusiasm will drive you for a long while. However, the daily operations of running your business well and should be a priority. You will have to tend tho them in order for the business to succeed.
Self-improvement sites would like to share with you a few pointers/questions as you tend to these daily tasks of your business. Running your own business will give you plenty to do and it’s best you enjoy and know what you are doing.
Here are the pointers:
For most of us business owners, the main reason is making money, creating wealth, getting rich. That’s fine. But let’s be specific. Ask yourself the question: what do I want to do with the money? Whatever your answer is, write it down: buying a small sailing boat, traveling to Italy and Spain, buying a condominium in Hawaii. Put them up where you can see them every day.
Once you writhe them, review the second side-the one tasks you don’t like or are don’t do well. Try to decide which ones you could have someone else do it (outsource) or just have it automated. As the business world moves toward automation you should take a good and deep look at the possibilities of automation in your business. You don’t want to spend your valuable time on tasks that others would be able to do. Let someone do the accounts receivable and accounts payable. You cam to spend your time planning the future of your business.
There is no question that early on you won’t have enough money to pay someone to do the jobs you don’t want to do. However, you’ve got to think about the future of your business land be able to always keep the big picture in mind. Creativity helps. Some small business owners exchange skills. It’s a win-win situation. Each side gets what they want or need. Could you do the same and exchange skills? The more routine jobs you can outsource or automate the more time you have to plan and to market your business, and to think about even more ways to bring in all that lovely cash - not to mention you get to spend more of your time doing the things you really enjoy doing.
Plan, stay focused, keep an open mind and be flexible-all at the same time. Everyone will tell you to have a business plan. They are right. You need a road map, a campus-otherwise you’ll get lost soon. At the same time, you want to keep an open mind to the opportunities that present themselves. The opportunities could come in many ways. At the dinner table, your spouse could come up with a brilliant idea about adding a product to your line of merchandise.
Dealing with obstacles. No one is perfect and nothing always works out perfectly. Here and their obstacles will come your way and at times you will fail badly. The key to succeeding is how you react to problems and obstacles. This is where your mental toughness comes into play. If you are serious about your business, throwing in the towel is not an option when obstacles happen. Patience and perseverance are required and it will pay off.
Drawing on the experience of others. Friendship with someone who has to lead a successful business will be invaluable. There is much to be said for experience. The advice and ideas that a person who has already been through building a business will help you save time, money, and your nerves.
Best,
Steve
