First time building in public
Hey guys,
After hesitating on whether or not I should do this for a while (being a privacy-aware person my whole life), today I've decided it's time to get out of my comfort zone and share my first build in public tweet.
Would love to hear your honest thoughts on it & on the product :)

Just came across a tip in another thread in which one of the commenters said - Rather than seeing it as 'Building in public' consider it to be more of 'Having a presence' Which really resonates with me, as like you were I'm also nervous about sharing my project in public 😓
However, fingers crossed your MVP endeavour goes well, so you can keep on 'Having a presence'
I like that phrasing. I've also heard "work with the garage door up" as another a helpful way to think about it. You're essentially tinkering away on your project, but dropping bits and pieces here and there in a way that others can watch the process as if they were walking by and stopped to see what you're doing.
@tomzach one book that helped me was "Show Your Work" by Austin Kleon. Not sure if you've heard of it or not, but it's short and to the point on this topic. Good luck!
Work with the garage door up is an interesting one. As I know for a fact I'd be working in the garage with the door down 😄 However, I can definitely see the value in having others drop by to find out what's being created, so will have to try and have more of a mindset shift these next few months.
P.S good shout on recommending 'Show your work' Its a book that's cropped up on my radar a few times by different people who highly recommend it.

Did you do any validation for the product?
Thanks! to be honest, I did not. I was debating a lot whether it's necessary, since it's not really a new thing. I've seen very similar tools that are doing very well and I felt it's enough since it is a niche in this wider industry. I hope it turns out I was right :)
Interesting I haven't seen any tools like that and I have seen 1000+ SaaS companies.

Definitely is a niched use case, I'd say it's a superset of it with a specialty in making picture quotes :)
I’m just curious if there is a case where you would want to post daily or weekly “stand up” type posts from the project’s Twitter? I’m in the middle of a little side project to help folks BIP via Twitter myself. It seems relatively obvious that folks will want to post general updates from their project’s Twitter, so I’m assuming there’s little to no point in building out anything daily or weekly from the Project, but rather only from the user’s “personal” account. Does that feel right to everyone?
Yeah I think that the right way is from your personal profile. Later on people would organically see your product twitter from your profile. there was actually a recent discussion just about this here: https://www.indiehackers.com/post/personal-vs-project-twitter-account-fffa3d32f8

Hey @mikeneedle, just took a look at your landing page.
Love the simplicity ! I'm certainly no landing page expert, but I have a few thoughts:
First, I'd love to use social login (maybe just twitter login for starters).
Also, it's not so clear - on one hand it sounds specific for investor updates, but not sure if that's needed? but I have no investors to report to so I wouldn't know.
Also what's the difference from other thread writing apps like typefully?
not saying there's no room for more, but seems like you do have something else that I'm missing.
I'd also add screenshots from the product to immediately see what i'd get.
BTW - your twitter DM seems closed, not sure of that's on purpose or not.
Hey @tomzach first, thank you for the feedback! Based on your feedback I updated a bit of the language on the landing page (and a screeenshot is coming soon) - I just pushed the beta live today!
To answer your main question, how is this different - think of this as more of a journal that builds an update thread, with a single tweet in it for each of the following sections: maker, manager, success, struggle, numbers, and needs, as well as a private notes section. Then it saves a copy so you can reference it later. It’s more of a journal that builds threads than a thread building tool.
Even if you don’t have investors I would think stepping back monthly to think on those things (and revisit prior musings) would be helpful.
