First time building in public: how am I doing on Twitter?
Hello everyone,
I decided to build my next personal project in public using Twitter. My motivations for building in public are to:
- get out of my comfort zone
- have a diary I can look back on and appreciate my progress.
- exchange ideas with other developers to make the whole process less lonely

I have never used Twitter before so I wanted to ask some advice:

Do people generally post progress in individual Tweets or do they make Twitter threads?

How can I better inform people about what I'm building? I'm hesitant about sharing my code on GitHub or my documentation on Confluence. I made a post on my personal website but it's too cumbersome to maintain it alongside Twitter and my technical documentation: https://gontcharov.be/project/building-in-public

I'm still experimenting so I don't mind having 0 followers. Of course, later I would want to have a small audience. Am I going to get there by just posting about my progress or should I engage with people on Twitter?

My current content seems a bid bland haha.. Do you have some tips to improve on what I have or general tips for building in public?
Quickly scrolled through your tweets. Some tips.
Add new lines between sentences make list like tweets, easier to scan.
Emojis are your friend.
If possible add screenshots or animated gifs.
Link to your site now and then.

I've found most people post their progress in individual tweets more than they do threads.
I'm not sure there's a need to share your code? Unless you specifically want to make an opensource project? I think sharing progress on actual vs expected and the goals you're setting yourself would be more useful to help you keep yourself more accountable?

Short and simple with a nice picture and interesting purpose works best. Although this advice is most from my experience outside of Twitter as I have not mastered that game yet.
It definitely helps to find communities like HI to share your work. The more specific the community is to your project the better. Perhaps some Belgian real estate group would be a good place.

That's interesting. I thought only indie hackers would be interested, but I guess it can be a good idea to involve folks working in real estate as well
