It finally happened:
I crossed the first important indie product milestone - acquired revenue from a person who isn't me! I'm incredibly excited and grateful. This person really showed me their trust by buying a yearly plan. Especially since watchlimits has a pretty good free forever version.
Before the first purchase, it feels like it might never happen. Do other people care about the product as much as I do? If they do, would they be willing to pay?
It's easy to get consumed by those doubts and give up. Now I feel much more confident and excited!
There is still a lot too do to make the product better and to market it to the world. The work is just starting out. I know that there will be lots of more uncertainty and struggles going forward, but I'm up for this challenge. Building things and seeing other people see value in it feels incredible.
Next milestone: 5 paid customers. And I will trying to cherish each one as much as the first one.
I can totally relate to this: "Before the first purchase, it feels like it might never happen. Do other people care about the product as much as I do? If they do, would they be willing to pay?"
I struggle with self-doubt and launching a product out there. I'm still building my skills but I know that'll be a factor once I'm in the position to build on my own.
Keep at it! If you continue building and learning, I'm sure you can do it!
Woohoo, nice work! Any idea how you they found your product?
Congratulations Justyna! You deserve it!
Yay and CONGRATS!!!
congratulations!!
That's awesome, congratulations! What sort of marketing have you been doing?
Most recently a side project marketing with netflixcalculator.com :).
Congrats ⚡️⚡️⚡️
That's amazing Justyna! So happy for you :)
How long have you been working on this product and how did you get them to pay?
I started this project in the middle of March so about ~4 months part time.
How did I get them to pay? I don't think we interacted with this customer directly, so I guess some of my marketing efforts have worked :). At least I don't recognize the name...
I did have a couple thousands views to my other side project recently that also brought be some traffic here, so this is how they might have find the product. Or reddit, or twitter, or indie hackers... I'm not sure! I will have to ask!
