Hello fellow Indiehackers! 👋
My name is Stephan and I am a mobile developer from Germany.
I'm building the fitloxx app, which lets you track your gym workouts and helps you reach your goals when building muscle.
The app focuses on providing you with as many useful data insights as possible. So not only visualize your data properly, but also tell you what you need to do with that. That's also one of my main focus areas right now in terms of features.
Being a developer, I have been in the "no marketing" camp for a very long time, but this year I want to change that. So here I am 😄
You can follow my journey on Twitter, where I share some insights under the #buildinpublic Hashtag (see link in my profile).
I'm always happy to connect to other Indie Hackers!
-- Current state --
The app has now a few thousand downloads and a few hundred active monthly users. And it's slowly growing month over month. Since it's (unfortunately) mostly a side hustle it's pretty hard to manage development vs. marketing. On top of that, I am a complete marketing newbie, so I am as slow as it gets in terms of marketing. But at the same time, it's also fun to try out different marketing approaches and see what works and what doesn't.
The Current MRR is ~$300 and i hope to increase it to $1000 over the year.
And as a small advice to new mobile developers out there:
Don't start on Android 😉.
It's super hard to monetize and you get insulted for even thinking about offering a paid version of your app. However, this may also have been caused or intensified by the difficult market conditions in the fitness app industry.
So my advice would be: Start building on iOS!
I got so many requests from people, who where looking for a good iOS tracking app. More than i can count.
So now I am slowly building the iOS version. The plan is to release it at the end of 2024.
-- Market situation --
The market situation for gym and fitness apps is very very tough. You might have guessed that already ;).
There are a lot of influencers who are monetizing their audience right now by releasing their own fitness and gym tracking apps. This seems to be a growing trend all over the fitness industry.
So it's super hard to get customers and differentiate yourself from all those other apps.
Still figuring my way out here...

-- Offer --
If you are still reading:
Thanks for your interest! 🙂
And since you are still reading, I might have an interesting offer for you...
I would like to connect directly with my app customers and also with other indie hackers.
So why not combine both?
I am offering a limited founder onboarding and virtual personal trainer session.
But I can only offer 10 slots because of the time it takes to prepare.
Background is that I'm also working as a personal trainer for several years and wanted to do that a little more often, since it's fun.
What you will get:
Why am i doing this?
Requirements:
If you are interested can just send me a DM and i will let you know how it works 🙂
Since I can only handle a maximum of 10 people, it is on a first come, first served basis.
If there is too much demand I will simply base it on your DMs inbox time.
-- Your Questions --
Feel free to ask any question you are interested in. And I will be happy to answer them as best I can.

I’ve been using it to log my workouts at home since I’ve got a squat rack and an outdoor pull-up bar in my backyard. The data breakdowns are super useful for tracking progress over time, especially for strength sets. Love that it's focused on stats without any fluff.
Hey CaryTisik, thanks for the feedback :). Super happy that you like it. I think that's the strength of the app: A strong focus on stats and progress. If you have any more feedback you can also let me know with the email feedback directly in the app.
