I was watching an entrepreneur video and realized my mistake again. Wanted to share if you are dealing with the same stuff too.
I am a game developer. I make games for a living. First ten games I worked on, I was assuming making a game I like is the best way to find players. (players are my customers in this scenario). Then I realized it is hard to make assumptions about a player on what they wanted to play. I needed to change my perspective. After that, for the next ten games, I have started to look for more information about my customers.
Reaching out your users is hard, how are you making this contact with your customers/users? I solved this problem by asking publishers for tests. What they do is actually analyzing the product/market harmony. As an Indie Hacker, I learn that I need to be realistic. Probably some of you get the same instinct about your product. "My product is the best."
Believing in your product and thinking it is the best product ever are different things. Maybe there is a thin line between them. My mistake was thinking every game I make is the best one. Then I asked myself depending on whom? Why is this product the best? It took me a good 5 minutes to realize I was the customer in this question's answer. I was answering a question by myself for them. How do you think this is effective? Instead of asking yourself what is good/bad about your product, try asking those questions to your users. It took me more than ten mobile games to realize that. Believe in your product but try having fixes depending on your customer feedbacks. Sometimes I change the position of a button in my game to keep my customers satisfied. Even tho I don't like where it stands. I hope this helps anyone who reads this to realize a mistake they made.
Don't forget to share a mistake you made so we can all learn from them.
Good luck all in your products.
