Hi there, being a parent myself I struggle to record special moments with my kids that I'd love to share with them in the future... not just about their milestones but about our first video games, sports we love to play, what they are passionate about...
I once read about writing a journal myself and give it as a present for my children when turning 18... but I'm not good at keeping a physical journal and I've been thinking about building something that can send me a message weekly asking some questions and letting me reply through messenger and logging it automatically on a journal for my kids in the future.
Wondering if other IndieHackers might be interested on such a product?
Thanks for your comments!!
Hi JC,
I am sure not only indiehackers would be interested but other parents too.
I was going through old family albums during the lockdown and we noticed that we don't have any recent pictures in these photo albums.
I like your idea because I guess you can upload videos too, anecdotes, drawings, etc.
Would you charge a monthly fee?
Or maybe offer a free version with ads, that way you can show highly targeted ads.
And would it be just one account per child or family?
I guess some people use google drive or icloud but I would definitely love the chatbot style app that asks questions.
Hey! Sounds like a lovely idea :)
It's such a good feeling to document things to then look back at the progress and changes that have occurred :)
In case you choose not to build it yourself, maybe Notion can be an option?
I thought it was a pretty good site to organize thoughts and while I don't have kids, our startups progress are organized there and it's been lovely to see our memories, note down our milestones and see how we are slowly getting to our goals :)
Wish you a great week!
Thank you for taking the time to reply! have a great week yourself!
My pleasure :)
By Messenger, you mean Facebook Messenger?
I'd be concerned whether FB would be around in the future. I've seen a similar idea being done by parents setting up an email account and emailing updates.
No, it'd be managed as independent platform but with APIs connected to messenger or telegram for easy log of memories.
