Former NY Homeland Security invents pillowcase that protects against viruses/bacteria

Long before COVID-19, I created a patented pillowcase that protects against viruses/bacteria. Like any entrepreneur, this started out as me scratching my own itch. But now, given the global pandemic, I am trying to seize the moment and release this thing into the world.

I'm at zero sales, no digital marketing experience, low on cash, BUT.....I've got hustle and a decent smile :). Also, I have my supplier lined up and am working with a local seamstress with capacity of 1,000 pillowcases (units) per week.

What's my next step? The more practical the better.

Cheers!

I'm curious -- how do they protect against microbes?

Great question. The pillowcase is essentially two layers — the outer layer is basically a standard, comfy pillowcase, but the inner layer us made from a material that is already used in protective clothing for emergency first responders, healthcare professionals, disaster relief teams, etc.

Admittedly, I took a proven, field-tested material and made a two-layer pillow case out of it. But the science behind the material is air-tight. NFPA certified, and to my amazement, there is no other product like it on the market.

Well, it's probably against your nature based on your background, but you should share roughly where you are so that people can makes suggestions that are available in your locale haha.

But I searched your past posts and determined you're in the USofA. What government grants are being offered to entrepreneurs & companies targeting this problem in the US? For example, in Canada, my locale, the government is offering big grants to companies that are working on solutions for this problem, and are even incentivising producers to retool and produce relevant products.

    Also;

    • ensure your company is setup properly to be a retailer
    • make a Shopify store
    • find a logistics partner
    • make sure your supply chain of materials is prepared for a flood of orders
    • find a legitimate health/medical partner if you have evidence your product works
    • or if you're lacking such evidence, find a wellness partner
    • create some branded marketing materials, quickly
    • find out where you can market this product on social media, there may be restricitions

Thanks, Blake. Yes, I'm based in the USA, although in my mind I'm drinking a beer in Jasper, Alberta. I love your though about using relief funds to help get this thing launched. I will get to looking.

How would you get your first 100 paying customers?

Jasper is amazing, and I definitely don't get there as often as I'd like.

I updated my post with more details. Good luck!
