Here's the research that went into the discovery of an idea for a Shopify app that's making $25k MRR within 1.5 years of its launch.
In our race to build the next great app, we often lose sight of great opportunities lying around in existing platforms/channels.
The founders researched every Shopify app (available back then) and tried to find an opportunity where there's not too much competition and where the existing apps leave room for significant improvements.
I believe this is an excellent process guide+ template on idea discovery for a software/ Micro SaaS/app. Thoughts?

This is great! I like the systematic approach.
I think a good opportunity would be to just take the same approach but do it for another platform, like WooCommerce or Magento or something.

Yes, it can be used for any platform like Slack, App store, Chrome etc. with slight tweak.
I just stumbled across it in reddit. The authors are founders of a Shopify app and I follow one of them in Twitter. But this particular piece where he has shared his entire research was in some corner of a post.
