I recently created a free database of over 100 early stage startups affiliated with MIT. For the last two years I've been a student at MIT, and I've been writing an email newsletter where I recap startup events and pitch competitions at MIT.
After a few months I realized I was also sitting on a list of hundreds of amazing startups, so I decided to make it available as a free database at the landing page below:
This has had decent success in increasing my subscribers, but I'm looking for places to share this more broadly. Interested in feedback on this landing page and advice on where to share this lead magnet more broadly!
You captured my interest simply because I graduated from MIT (a long, long time ago in what now seems like a faraway universe).
Your landing page would benefit from including more details about who you are, what you have gathered and are offering, and why. It is currently pretty sparse and anonymous - I 'trusted' it because of your IH post above (which did require a certain leap of faith) - but others will not likely be quite that trusting.
Thanks, this is great feedback! To date I've used this landing page to share in school slack / whatsapp communities. I think it worked there because there was already a sense of trust and awareness from that community. I think you make a great point that this lacks detail - I'll try another version that includes my photo and some background on who I am / what I'm doing. Thanks!
