Free landing page / website builder for indie hackers

Hello IHers!

I've been working on a free "no-code" landing page / website builder called Bootstrapsite.com during weekends.

https://www.bootstrapsite.com

It creates very clean Bootstrap 5 code which is great for SEO and super fast loading sites.

Apart from the drag-n-drop web builder, there is also a step-by-step landing page wizard which asks you a few simple questions about your product and creates a nice landing page for you automatically (demo video below).

I've been working on this project for some time now but it's the first time I'm sharing it anywhere. I've used it to create my own sites. I feel it's matured enough to share with everyone now :)

So please take it for a spin and share your thoughts. No signup or cc needed - you can export the HTML or host it on custom domains too.

I've also created some demo videos and tutorials for it:

▷ Landing page builder demo

▷ Step by step landing page building wizard

The builder is written in Vue 3.0 front-end with laravel on backend.

Everything will always be free including website export, hosting, etc. The only difference is there will be a small branding at bottom in the free hosted website. The paid version will be a one-time purchase of $37 without any branding. I also plan to open source this under AGPL later.

Please play with it and share what you think.

Your feedback and critism will help me a lot and I hope you can use this to create your next landing page :)

    Hi there,

    What works well:

    1. Clarity - I instantly understand what it is. This is one of the most important jobs of a landing page, so great work!
    2. Demonstration - I like that you've made it very easy to see real life demonstrations in multiple use cases.

A few ideas to improve conversion:

    1. Positioning: I would consider who is the perfect, ideal customer and then tailor the value proposition to focus on the 1-2 things that persona cares about.

For example, you say simple, no jargon, no learning, but then you also mention front-end terms like 'Bootstrap' and 'divs'.

From looking at the tool, I think your ideal profile are indiehackers/solopreneurs. In that case, I would use language that this audience cares about (like "rapidly code beautiful prototypes", "launch your landing page in hours, not days", etc)

    1. Pricing: When I see '100% free', I immediately want to know 'what's the catch?' and 'how do you make money?'. Because some other 'no code' solutions will burn you by making it free to get started but then you need to start paying if you want to get any value from it. It might help to add a section "How do we make money" Or "Pricing" or something.

    2. CTAs: there are 3 competing CTAs:

    "Create Free Website"
    "Try Sample"
    Clicking watch on the video

These compete for the user's attention and choice. I only have one CTA 'above the fold'. You can then have the video and other CTAs below the fold.

      Hi Anneliese,

Thanks so much for the detailed feedback. This is exactly what I wanted. Appreciate it a lot!

      Based on your feedback

      1. I will definitely remove all mention of div and Bootstrap. I initially created it to create Bootstrap 5 based sites quickly but then I don't want to be tied to one framework and scare users. So definitely switching it to more user friendly terms like you've suggested.

      2. I tried to mention this in the FAQ in "How much does it cost" and "If it's free.. How do you make money?" But I think it's too far down and easy to miss. There is only one difference that there is no branding in paid version (a one-time cost of $39). Will give it more prominance and also update the pricing page to make this more clearer.

      3. Definitely spot-on about the CTA. Never really occoured to me. It's defintiely so confusion now that I think about it. Great catch!

      Again really helpful feedback. Thanks!

    Hi.

Just saw your post on your Landing Page app.

I'm looking for a basic Landing /Marketing page/app that shows what the proect will be to a target audience. At the same time, I'd like to have a countdown (days/signed up/interested users), and the ability to collect email/some basic user data from a form.

Would also be nice to have a referral hook, so a user could tell/refer other users to the project.

Does your app have ability to do this? Can you add the logic/code to do it? I'm open to funding this depending on cost.

Oh, there would have to be conversations on hosting as well as email cost...

    thanks

    hit me up on this!!!

      Hi bruce,

Yes you should be able to do. There is a countdown widget which can do this

      https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vM2btPw_H5I&feature=youtu.be

You can also add HTML forms to collect data

      https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VPADbmOxj-s&feature=youtu.be

You can also add script tags to add custom logic on pages, etc.

Right now everything is free. I'm going to open source this in the coming weeks so you can self host it if that's what you're asking. If you have any feature requests do let me know.

      Thanks,
      San

        Hi San.

If you want to talk to me about what I need, and since you're going to implement the log/process -- we might work out some "pay" if you'd like to discuss.

This would get me what I need, get you some valid testing. I'd be glad to be a ref customer. At the same time, if everything worked, your "code/project" would have live data/test due to my having real/live test users visit/interact with the site.

If you're up to it, let's discuss.
