Hmm, I signed up, went to my mailbox, clicked the link. A page with password form was shown with pre-filled random password. I clicked "set password" and got redirected to
    https://www.simpletasking.com/wp-login.php?action=lostpassword&error=invalidkey

    with blank page.

Also, did you build the app using wordpress?

Hi Victor, could you share more details on how this happened. I can't seem to reproduce the issue.

We are using Wordpress and NodeJS, Wordpress was supposed to save time but keep giving us issues from time to time. Hopefully, soon it will be all node.

Thank you for taking the time to test out the platform.

Hey @steban I tried out the product and here's what I noticed:
    A - THE LANDING PAGE

    1. The landing page does not attract me and gives off a different vibe to the screenshot of the app - simply modifying the header and toning down the font sizes could make a significant difference!
    2. I would really like to see a simple product demo on the homepage in the form of a gif/video or even tabs with different features of the product,
    3. The sign-up page is bland and could use some work and the post-sign-up needs rework!
    4. Similarly, changing fonts and moving content to the middle of the page should boost the look of the Login page.

    B - THE PRODUCT
    5) Icons and text are not uniform - I'd find smaller icons more "fitting in".
    6) Fonts, again! I find the use of Open Sans and Arial together, jarring - I would recommend sticking with fonts that go well together.
    7) Adding new Threads and Boards seems straightforward but there is no way to know "Conference" is part of the paid plan until I click it - a callout would help in that situation.

    C - CONCLUSION
Though everything felt a bit "slow" rather than snappy - the product itself seems great! I can really see how it can be useful considering that most changes are cosmetic rather than functional. I'm sure that this is still a WIP so I'm definitely excited to see what happens to the tool in the future!

As a side-note, in terms of the product, what made you go for WordPress as opposed to creating a new product using, say, React or Vue?

Thank you for taking the time to write this.

1.-We are still working on the front-page, I think once we add the section to section transitions it will make more sense. Somehow some people really like it how it is now.

2.- We are adding some animated GIFs to show the basic things, creating a project, adding users to a certain project team, turning threads into tasks, etc.. We will place them on the front-page to complement the design.

3.- The idea is to keep things as simple as possible but will try to improve it!

4.- What kind of font do you think will help?

5.-We are trying to create this bold and simple UI, you think maybe a 10% reduction will help?

6.- Where is the Arial font!! I tried to find it. My main struggle is getting the typography right. Creating a bold yet functional UI has proven very difficult.

7.- Good call, will add a pro only icon.

It started as a side project to solve my problem, I'm always working on multiple projects, so Wordpess was an easy way to build something fast. We are slowly moving code to Node, should make things get that snappy feeling.

Thank you again for so much useful feedback, will ping you when we push the next version of the code, hopefully by the end of this week. You will see a big improvement in speed!

You've hit the nail on the head for most of the items already! In terms of fonts, I wouldn't recommend any particular font as that's a big part of brand but I will suggest that you check out sites that generate font pairing e.g. Fontjoy and FontPair. Personally, I really like Open Sans which you are already using and you can check out Montserrat for a nice pairing.

For #5 - you don't necessarily need to reduce the icon sizes rather make everything uniform although, yes, currently a 10% reduction might do great!

For #6, I found the Arial font in the sub prompts e.g. the modal where you can set the From, To and other details for a board.

As another side-note, if you're currently migrating to Node, I'd suggest to stick with that - work out any kinks in the tool, and then focus on improving the UX because you did say that people seem to like the current design so I would trust them over me since they're your active users.

I look forward to checking out the next iteration of the product!

Thank you so much for the feedback, is extremely helpful. I will follow your advice and post an update!

Here is how things look today:
          https://i.ibb.co/ZLwMStd/image.png

Notice how users can get updates of their projects on the first column without having to actually open the project. Lots of time-saving there.

          1. 1

It does look crisper and I love the addition of displaying an extract of the project. I suppose one more suggestion you might consider is allowing a user to toggle the left-side to have more space on the right?

Nonetheless, I would definitely suggest that you migrate the codebase first and then spend time improving the design - just phasing out WordPress itself might make all the difference! Good Luck and I look forward to more updates.

    1. First impression. Another stagnant IndieHacker's website. Please change your landing page design and font size too.
    2. I made an account with this email [email protected] but I had not received an email. And there is no resend option on the registration confirmation page.
    3. Too big email icon again. Just try to sign up on 5 websites to see their confirmation style.
    4. What is the benefit of confirmation before even allowing customer to use your product.
    5. Show your tool features as interactive videos/gifs instead of BIG pngs.

Update: I got a confirmation email.

Thank you Falak, your feedback helps a lot. We are already working on some of these things. We will ever keep your account free.

        1. 1

Soft reminder: My account is still on free plan

          1. 1

Will update it now! Did you get a chance to see our new UI? We improved a lot thanks to your feedback.

  4. 1

Hey, @steban - happy to check it out once it's back online; lmk

    1. 2

Thank you @marclar, it is working for me, what issue are you seeing?

      edit: seems to be ok!
      https://ibb.co/xhRg8Yd

The front-page is work in progress, only the actual product is completed. Also we have not done a mobile version of it as part of our MVP, so it needs a regular browser.

      1. 1

Gotcha - it was just a connection refused before; loads fine now. Thanks!

        1. 1

          Looking forward to your comments!

  5. 1

I would say it is easy and simple to work with but some icons and words are little bit big. and kind of design that was in the past. will comment more for any features i notice that would be missing.

    1. 1

Thank you for the feedback Ayesh, it is very appreciated. We are trying to keep the UI simple and easy to use, so elements are bigger. Notice how Indihackers does something like this as well! We have updated your account to Pro, and it will be free forever! Thank you again!

Thanks that is very generous of you. Other than being free for IH, why should we use simpletasking? Why is it better than other available software?

    1. 1

Thank you for the reply @Cannonball2134 , There are amazing project management platforms out there, Trello and Slack come to mind. Some of them are even free. But none of them focus on multiple project management. Yes, you can have multiple Trello boards and multiple Slack projects, but their multi-project functions are very limited. You need multiple accounts, you need plugins, it takes time and as the number project grows, the amount of time they take to administer increases and their limitations become visible.

Many of those buildings on IH are doing side projects and managing multiple things at the same time. Our platform helps to keep things under control and save lots of time. Give it a try!
