*Free* proofreading for startups 📖
Hello IH 👋 Just launched a free proofreading service on Product Hunt. (https://www.producthunt.com/posts/sharpn)
I wanted to way to provide value to the maker community in a simple yet meaningful way. My software skills aren't up to par just yet so I wanted to contribute something with the skills I already have: writing, marketing, consumer psych, etc.
So today I launched Sharpn, a free proofreading service for anyone who needs to get a second pair of eyes on something they’ve written and want to share/broadcast to the world. Proofreading is done in order of submission.
At the moment, I’m the only person doing the proofreading. (For context, I run a copywriting business and I’m a full time university student). I’ll assemble more readers if submissions become overwhelming.

Something perhaps to think about.
I got to your Swordpen site through Sharpn. My mind was thinking "proofreading'.
Then on the Swordpen site when I go to the pricing page, you again mention Sharpn. Nothing wrong with that, but now I'm really thinking "proofreading."
Then below that on the pricing page the next thing I see are two subscription plans, one with a $600 price.
And here's my big question at that point: is that a price for proofreading only, or for writing too? Studying the page I am pretty sure that those subscriptions are for writing, but I recommend you make that more clear for someone who gets there through the Sharpn path.

In terms of strategy, this reminds me of one of the channels in the Traction book, making a website/widget that draws traffic that then serves to promote your main site.
I will be very interested to hear how this goes for you over time.
Thanks for the feedback. There were definitely ways that I could've tighten things up.
And yes, that is my strategy: releasing something useful that drives traffic to something else. I don't think Sharpn was the best way to go about it because it requires alot of time (proofreading).
I think I'll go with more of a content thing. Like a curated list of information that I think people will find value in. A content based thing would drive traffic "while I sleep." Which would be ideal lol. Might do that next. Stay tuned haha
