Free tool for developers

Alex Buran @AlexBuran

Did you know that we looked for a usable free website word counter for over a year and couldn't find anything useful?

When I asked myself: "How come there are no decent online website word calculators and in 2020 we still have to resort to some obscure ways of estimating the word counts?" I was baffled and, man, I was angry!

So, after a couple of iterations, we've launched the free tool ourselves: https://websitewordcalculator.com/

The biggest problem with calculating words on websites, is that you need to deploy a crawling software to visit every public web page, remove the duplicates and return the accurate results. The word counters I saw were either scammy (aka ask for email address and return nothing), or calculated only one page. You couldn't get the entire website calculated!

Thus, the new tool was born! https://websitewordcalculator.com/

Being a leading company behind ConveyThis.com, it wasn't too much of a problem for our team to develop it. We've already eaten a dog so to say when it comes to translating and localizing websites, so re-using part of our proprietary software for the public wasn't too much of a burden.

Feel free to give it a try and let us know your thoughts!

We've installed Chrome on the server, so the calculation of Javascript based templates should improve. That should close 98% of all possible cases.
If you find other bugs, don't hesitate to let us know.
