Free tool that mines 'Who Is Hiring' — I packaged the May data as a $19 CSV

16 days ago I shipped HN Startup Hunter (https://hn-startup-hunter.onrender.com) — a free tool that scrapes HN "Who Is Hiring" threads and makes the data searchable/filterable.

Honest metrics:

  • ~50 free users
  • 0 paid signups (paywall was broken for 10 days, fixed it 6 days ago)
  • 186 companies in the current May 2026 "Who Is Hiring" thread

I packaged the May data as a structured CSV dataset — company, role, tech stack, remote/onsite, direct apply URL — for $19 on Payhip: https://payhip.com/b/zySC3

The buyers I imagine are recruiters, sourcerers, or devs prospecting for clients — people who want the data in a spreadsheet NOW without building a scraper.

Two questions for the community:

  1. Does $19 for a fresh structured CSV of 186 companies sound right to you, or is that too high / too low?
  2. Any IH folks using HN hiring data to find clients or candidates? Curious if this is a real workflow or something I imagined.
