You may be surprised how many well-funded, established companies fail basic AI visibility checks.
If you're a business owner, showing up in ChatGPT is becoming a must.
But having a great website doesn't necessarily mean AI search engines can properly discover and understand it. Things like crawlability, robots.txt, llms.txt, structured data, and how your site renders can all matter.
Leapd offers the best AI visibility audit for free. In about 10 seconds, you can see whether your website's foundation is set up correctly for AI visibility and what you may need to fix.
Just enter your website and get your free audit. Start here

The bigger surprise for us at SocialPost.ai wasn't the technical gaps, it was how differently ChatGPT described our product versus our own positioning. Crawlability gets you discovered, but the content still has to answer the exact questions buyers ask. Does the paid audit score positioning accuracy, or just the technical foundation?
Exactly, @gregoryscotthenson. That’s actually one of the biggest things the paid audit looks at. It goes beyond technical crawlability and analyzes how your positioning comes across to AI engines, how it compares with the market, and whether your site clearly communicates what makes you different. It then turns those gaps into an actionable plan to fix them.
Interesting idea but free audit doesn't surface anything that someone who is using AI (especially if they're using AI to build their website) doesn't already know imo. Would want a full report for one page to see if any of the other AI stuff is relevant, but based on what I see from free version for my website (The Automations Guide) then I wouldn't purchase tbh.
Interesting perspective, @theautomatinsguide. The free audit surfaces the most fundamental issues that can prevent AI engines from discovering and understanding your site. If you’ve fixed those, you’re in good shape.
You’d be surprised how many smart founders still fail the audit. The paid version goes much deeper, analyzing AI visibility, your website, and positioning together to give you an actionable plan. Worth trying if you want to take it further.
This is useful, but I think the audit should also explain what to fix first. A long list of technical issues can be hard for a small business owner to act on. Maybe group the results into 3 levels: critical, important, and nice to have. Then give one simple action for each issue. It would also be useful to show a before and after example of a site that improved its AI visibility. That makes the value much easier to understand.
@abstamal, the audit already gives red, yellow, and green labels for this, so you can prioritize
Curious how you separate things that actually improve AI visibility from normal SEO improvements that would have helped anyway. Feels like there’s still a lot of overlap between the two.
The technical audit is the right starting point but there's a layer most founders miss: AI engines don't just crawl you, they build an entity model of you. Structured data and llms.txt tell crawlers what's on your pages. But whether an AI actually cites you when someone asks a relevant question depends on whether the model has a consistent, coherent understanding of what your brand is. That's built from how your brand name, category, value prop, and key claims appear consistently across your own site AND across third-party sources -- reviews, press mentions, directories, community posts. I've seen well-structured, technically clean sites get zero AI citations because the brand is only known on its own domain. And I've seen messier sites get pulled constantly because they've built a strong external signal footprint. The audit covers the foundation. Entity-building is the moat. Does the paid version of Leapd look at the external signal picture, or is it focused on the on-site technical layer?
This is great, @amandabrown — you’re right that even a perfectly structured, well-crafted website may not get cited by AI if the site lacks authority.
After joining Leapd, you’ll get a full AI tracking and visibility audit so you know where you stand, a detailed website audit to pinpoint issues and a plan to fix them, a full backlink audit to understand why your authority is low, and multiple AEO-optimized articles drafted for you by Leapd. You can also ask Alex, our Visibility Agent, to hunt for editorial backlink opportunities.
FYI — you can also submit your business to the Leapd Directory, which gives you 2 dofollow backlinks from DR 40+ domains with permanent placement. It’s $19.99 for Leapd customers and $29.99 for everyone else.
Did the audit, just the free one, incredible to start. Thank you!
Glad it is adding value @grantcreate
The crawlability side is real, but in my experience it's the cheaper half of the problem.
I went through this exact checklist last week building out an AI-jobs site — robots.txt, llms.txt, schema, making sure everything renders server-side. The thing that actually moved the needle wasn't on any audit list I found: getting into Bing's index. ChatGPT's search leans on Bing, so if you've never touched Bing Webmaster Tools, a flawless robots.txt still leaves you invisible there. It took about ten minutes (import from Search Console) plus an IndexNow plugin that pings on publish.
The other half is citability rather than crawlability. Models quote passages, not pages — a 45-word direct answer sitting under a question-shaped heading gets lifted; the same answer buried in paragraph nine of an essay doesn't. And original numbers seem to beat prose by a distance: anything with a date and a source attached gets pulled disproportionately, probably because it's the one thing a model can't generate for itself.
Does your audit flag Bing indexation status? That'd be the check I'd want at the top of the list.
Good question @muy. Microsoft retired the public Bing Search APIs in Aug 2025, so there is no official way for a Bing index check, but tbh, that shouldn't be on top of the list anyway; we already know these models cite different sources. See this report for more context; I think you will find it valuable - https://www.leapd.ai/blog/ai-visibility/how-chatgpt-google-ai-overviews-and-perplexity-source-information-in-2026
Honestly had no idea
llms.txtwas becoming a standard until recently. It definitely feels like we're watching the transition from traditional SEO to AI Search Optimization in real time. Ran a quick check and found a couple of basic rendering gaps I would've completely ignored otherwise. Appreciate you sharing this!Happy to see the tool is valauble @anishz
Love this idea, the new SEO
This is pretty cool, I ran it through a couple of my projects.
Thanks @salishstudios
Just ran my site through it. Turns out my robots.txt was blocking more than I thought — and I had no idea llms.txt was even a thing until now. Took literally 10 seconds to spot issues I'd been ignoring for months. This is going to be essential infrastructure, not a nice-to-have.
Glad the tool was useful, @indieHacker4040! You’re definitely not alone — we see founders at mature, well-funded companies struggle with the same basic AI visibility issues all the time.
I agree. Right now people, and even I, ask for tools to Ai. If I truly want people to discover my product, I need AI visibility SEO. I tried it out with my website, and Honestly from my experience trust matter for Ai systems. I'll try leapd out for my website
exactly @bonbon67
This is a really useful reminder that AI visibility is becoming part of technical SEO, not just a content problem.
A lot of businesses may have a great-looking website but still be difficult for AI systems to crawl, interpret, and surface.
Things like crawlability, structured data, rendering, and clear site structure are easy to overlook—so a quick audit can reveal some surprisingly important gaps.
Definitely worth checking before assuming your website is already “AI-ready.”
100% @nkoko
Interesting approach. A quick audit that separates crawlability, rendering, and structured-data issues could be genuinely useful. It would be helpful to see how each check connects to a specific recommended fix.
thanks @almamartin
It’s easy to pour months into building a beautiful, content‑rich website, yet completely overlook whether AI systems can actually “read” you. Many well‑funded businesses fall into this trap.
Great rankings on Google no longer guarantee you’ll appear inside ChatGPT answers. Crawl settings, llms.txt, structured data, and site rendering all quietly decide whether your brand gets seen by AI users.
Really appreciate Leapd putting out this free audit. It takes only around 10 seconds to spot blind spots you would otherwise miss. It’s a practical wake‑up call for every business owner: AI visibility is not optional anymore.
Thanks @zhongyao111. I love how you put it: "AI visibility is not optional anymore."
I build the same for handle brands business in autonomous, the product name is Agle AI. The difference is the touchpoint where i choose link in bio as visitor and customer interface.
Nice
This is such a timely tool! A lot of founders are still solely focused on traditional SEO and completely missing out on AI visibility like llms.txt formatting. Love that you are offering a quick and free way to check this. Great initiative!
Absolutely, @Cb_Kk_! Glad you found it useful. AI visibility is still new territory for many founders, so we wanted to make it easy and free to set the foundations right.
Good point about established companies failing basic AI visibility checks, that's honestly more common than people assume. Most sites are optimized for human visitors and traditional search, but never audited for how a crawler or LLM actually parses the structure. The distinction between "looks good" and "is machine-readable" is going to matter a lot more over the next year. Running this on my site now, curious to see what turns up.

Here, there is an interesting difference between having a good website and making it understandable to an AI system.
A site may be visually appealing to a visitor, and it might not be easily found by anyone. I am a fan of the idea of making sure that the basics are sorted out first: crawling, the robots rules, structured data and rendering, and then advancing to more complex AI visibility strategies.
Things like that can be easily missed since they aren't on the page.
Looking at the audit as a diagnostic, not a score, also seems helpful. When you know what is blocking a crawler or preventing it from understanding something, you will have a much better idea of the next steps you should take.
Exactly, @morphoices. A great-looking site isn’t necessarily an AI-readable site. Getting the technical foundation right first gives you a much clearer path to improving AI visibility.
This is good, will try it with my website
very useful
thanks @eternity27
Really interesting point. We’re entering a time where it’s not just about ranking on search engines, but also about being understood and surfaced by AI systems.
Okay
Love that it’s free and easy to try. The best way to know if it actually works is to test it on your own site.
Thanks for trying it @sTavasoli
This is something a lot of businesses probably overlook. Having a good website is one thing, but making sure AI can actually find and understand it is becoming just as important. I'd like to try
yes @marcus89 - we see many founders struggle with this and spend weeks trying to figure out why they are not ranking on AI engines. This tool covers fundamentals so they know what to do next.
This is really useful. A lot of companies focus on SEO and forget that AI visibility is becoming just as important. It’s interesting to see how basic technical issues can affect whether AI tools can actually understand and recommend your website.
Really useful perspective for SaaS founders. One thing I’m seeing more founders struggle with is getting their newly launched product discovered.
I’m building LaunchNest LN for exactly this stage. We’re currently giving the first 10 founders Premium access free.
I need the web link ?
I would like this too ?
Useful context @bux05665
Hey, saw your post about the free AI visibility audit. Really interesting angle.
I’m building TaskRelay, a done-for-you task service for solo founders. Basically, when there are small but time-consuming operational tasks sitting on your plate, I handle them for you.
I was wondering as Leapd gets more people running these audits, do you ever end up with implementation or repetitive research tasks that you’d rather hand off than do yourself?
If so, I’d be happy to take a few of those off your plate.
Thanks @taskrelay - we use an AI agent for the full process - even Leapd itself is running on an AI agent, our AI co-founder product, Jack, sends me updates daily just like all other 1000+ founders on our platform - but I will certainly keep you in mind when there are operations we can outsource.
Absolutely, appreciate it! Makes sense if the AI is already handling most of the process.
If something comes up that’s better handled by a human, feel free to reach out. Happy to help wherever it makes sense.
What are the most common things you see companies getting wrong? Is it mostly technical stuff like
robots.txtandllms.txt, or are there bigger issues?Curious what others find. If you run the audit on your site, what’s the biggest AI visibility issue it finds? I’d especially love to hear from people with established businesses — are the basics actually set up correctly, or are there surprises?
probably the most useful tool I have seen recently - and sadly our website needs lots of work - for context, I used Claude to build my website, how it doesn't know to add these missing stuff?
love how clean this is- I think the length audit is not important but the rest is pretty solid
this is relay helpful thank you - for me it is mostly clean with a few big issues and I am running the audit on my full website to see if there is any issues elsewhere- I wonder if we fix now, how long it takes to see the effect
Glad you are trying the full audit package on your website @ejones , with Alex you would be able to fix all issues in one hour - but it takes from a few days to a few weeks for Google to crawl your website again- you can actually manually submit specific URLs to speed up that
quite interesting - we are not even crawlable - wtf !!! ... need my engineer to have a look asap
@johnmcd, it is quite common among different businesses we see to miss the proper AEO setup - - you can use our visibility agent, Alex, to help with the continuous monitoring and fixes part as well.
just checked my website, is llms.text required by google? apparently is missing from our site and I am not sure what to do
@joesand yes - it is not an official Google requirement, but for LLM it is a crucial piece; it technically tells AI agents what exists on the website.
