#daily-stand-up

  1. 5

    EPIC:

    By end of March:

    • Continue push to get out of beta.
      • Need to quantify this and set a deadline this month.
    • From January(!): Solidify next steps for getting some beta users and feedback.
    • 3 new blog posts.
    • Create a new release.

    Past however many days:

    • Got video feedback from friends and made some changes to it.
    • New landing page finally works half-decently on mobile and desktop.
    • IndieHackers San Diego meetup :)
    • Bunch of work on beta tester's app.

    Next few days:

    • Pay for music license ($25... not too bad) and release the new landing page.
    • Resubmit to beta list.

WIP: https://brisaboards.com/index-new.html - includes the video I'm planning to launch the new page with.

    1. 2

Awwww yeah! Congrats the new page and video! A marked improvement on both fronts! Any luck on the solid steps for beta users front?

      1. 1

        Thanks :)

I'm going to try to resubmit to BetaList. I don't expect much (hell, not even sure they'll accept it), but maybe I'll get some signs of whether people are interested or not.

I'd like to submit to a bigger site like product hunt, but I don't feel it's ready. And, of course, I still think these sites are over-rated. There's a really cool marketing guy who runs the IH San Diego meetup, I think he'll give some good advice on this front :)

    IRT PullManager.com

    Epic:

By End of March: No gated beta. I have a list now and think I have a short term beta release soon (0-2 weeks away)...but I'd like to be at a stage to just let visitors "sign up" by the end of the month.

Yesterday: I created an IH Product Page for Pull Manager (still awaiting approval) and continued knocking out the code for the notification system in Pull Manager.

Today: Continue knocking out the code for the notification system in Pull Manager.

    1. 2

      Great idea for large teams!

      1. 1

Thanks...that was my thought as well!

  3. 4

Fell behind (work/contract/school crap) on everything after last weekend, and spent the week catching up. Finally caught up and ready to get rolling again.

    EPIC:
Alpha for AutomatedApi.com by month end.

    YESTERDAY:
    Nada

    TODAY:

    • [Product]Do some testing of items I'd done to break OpenApi models into their own dedicated service deployments.
    • [Agency] Write one new proposal
    • [Agency] commit one task for customer Api integration
    • [Customer Facing] (stretch) put together newsletter and get it the hell on a schedule for my email list

    KUDOS:
@AndrewV I like the new layout, been a while since I'd taken a look. Good to see it progressing.

    WIP:
    AutomatedApi.com

    1. 1

      Thanks! Appreciate it :)

I was a bit worried about your layout when I clicked the link at the bottom, but it was just missing the "d" in the domain haha

      1. 1

yeah those damn typos get me every time

  4. 4

    01: EPIC

Design, build and deploy a small, free web app which helps business owners craft better customer support emails. The goal is to build a real-world, useful product while honing my JavaScript skills.

    02: YESTERDAY

Refined how the different sections of the suggested email get populated. Created a bunch of test data for further testing, tried to break it, didn't manage to :)

    03: TODAY

Today and over the weekend I'll be doing some further testing, cleaning up the code and ensuring it's properly annotated (it needs to be packaged up nicely as I'll be adding it to my Github profile, no pressure!).

    1. 2

Do you have a target date for this? Anxious to get a look.

I'm sure some IH users could help you break it:P

      1. 1

Haha you're absolutely right!! I'm aiming to get my WIP online in time for Monday's stand-up, I'll give you a shout once it's ready to be broken :D

    WIP Mindful

    side note
Finally got over the hump of reviewing my work/labor for past year. This challenge and self-doubt kept me tripping over these job applications and had me at a roadblock w/ Mindful.

Seeing the numbers, I know the exact areas that needs improving and habits that need to stop immediately. With the boogieman identified and the light switch turned on, now I feel confident to move forward with my Epic.

    1. 2

@helengriffinjr Nice work carrying out this self-assessment and identifying areas you want to work on!

In my experience, great businesses nurture and develop their teams, carrying out regular one-to-ones, coaching sessions and outlining a clear development path. It's easy to forget that when we're self-employed, we have to do this for ourselves. Thanks for the inspo, I'm going to schedule a meeting with myself on Monday ;)

      1. 1

lol, funny I didn't even think of that until you brought it up smh. I'm glad my forgetfulness and stubbornness turning into a more solution-focused & better outcome for both of us. Thanks for the encouragement.
