Cartva just crossed 200 active merchant shops. I want to share what that
actually looked like to build.
Cartva is a multi-tenant e-commerce SaaS with a Merchant of Record model.
Merchants get a storefront, print-on-demand fulfillment, and dropshipping.
We handle the legal and financial responsibility for every transaction so
they do not have to.
What took the longest was not the core product. It was the integrations.
Stripe Connect for split payments. Printful and CJ Dropshipping for
fulfillment. Local payment rails that most platforms do not support.
Each one was a week of edge cases.
Where we are now:
- 200 active shops
- Merchant of Record via Stripe Connect
- Printful and CJ Dropshipping live
- Marketplace integrations (Etsy, Shopify) in progress
The next milestone is getting merchants their first sale outside their
immediate network. That is the real test.
Happy to answer questions about multi-tenant architecture, MoR models,
POD integrations, or anything else.
200 shops is a real milestone. The ‘first sale outside their network’ problem is honestly the hardest part of any marketplace you’re now selling distribution, not just the platform. Curious what acquisition channel you’re betting on first for merchant growth?
The part that stood out to me was shifting the definition of success from onboarding merchants to helping them make sales they couldn't have generated on their own.
It's easy to celebrate platform growth. The harder milestone is proving the platform creates value after someone signs up.
