In less than a month, GPTMyDay went from 0 to 300+ unique travel planners (users) with very little marketing!
Keeping it short, we learned the following on this quick, but insightful, journey growing/building this project :)
Organic marketing can be (not always) a lot more effective than paid marketing; however, paid marketing through micro-influencers can be a very effective and targeted strategy.
Blocking out a reasonable amount of time for identifying and listing out your specific target audience (maybe with some CUJs) is very helpful.
Picking the right distribution channels for your specific, target audience is extremely important (reddit for us).
Building a great product is important; however, mastering sales and marketing is just as (in some cases even more) important. Your MVP should not be perfect so just get it out there as quickly as possible and get feedback the idea + product ASAP (could literally just be a landing page).
That's it for this one!
We're building new tools focused on AI and Inventory Management so if you're interested in learning/building with us just reach out to me!
Thanks for sharing.
Getting the early users is such a pain,
No problem! Yeah and especially retaining them (retargeting, email automation with customer journeys, etc.)
Hey @philosofteng, congrats on the product!
Micro-influencers is something we thought about for GabbyGPT but I got lost with the many platforms and marketplaces for that.
Any tips?
Thanks!
Thank you! I would say really being honest (about what we really need, how we need it delivered, etc.) with those who had the exact target audience we needed was key
reddit requires constant engagement and your past karmas are practically of no help. On one hand it creates even playing field for new posters however what's in it for people who constantly engage with the community? how did you solved this problem?
It really depends, but for us the ones who were truly interested either DM'd us outside of our posts and/or signed up and just ended up using the tool itself!

Can you give us an example of the good channel.
Thank you for sharing your valuable experiences.
No problem!
For example, since we were focused on travel, subreddits such as r/CostaRicaTravel generate a lot of organic/free conversions (sign ups + plan generation).
Another example, at the moment I'm researching more into press release software (new channel) given that our next ventures may not necessarily benefit from Reddit. I got the idea from another indie hacker/founder who generated a lot of conversions from it for their desktop application tool :)
Thanks for the share @gptmyday
Here's my experience of operating a 2 sided marketplace, https://skilledup.life for 33.5 months where we have accumulated 33,000+ talent from 123 countries. There was a team of 1 (me) at the beginning.
Well done on what you have achieved within a short time scale.
Thank you!
