Last week I changed just a few words on my waitlist page (see below) —
and suddenly, signups started coming in again.
The difference?
The week before: 1% conversion
This week: 6%
It’s a small thing, but it says a lot.
🟢 Great copy can really move the needle.
🟢 And there’s genuine demand for what I’m building with Fileo.
At the beginning, most signups came from my personal network — friends, colleagues, people who already knew me.
Now they’re coming from outside that circle. That’s a great sign.
Next step: drive more traffic and keep building Fileo.
Both take time, but seeing real signals like this keeps me going.

The change:
Old: "Join the Waitlist" – "Be among the first to experience automated document organization"
New: "First 100 Members Get 33% Off Forever" – "Join the waitlist now to lock in your founder discount"
Thanks for that. I'm going to update mine. Wondering if I should do a "get x% off forever" type of deal or "get one month free".
Very good question. I think with on month free you might win more, but not necessarily those who are deeply interested. So my take is that those who are really in need and are more serious are rather caught with a life time deal.
You don't just want quantity, but quality.
Can't validate that though …
appreciate that you shared the numbers. Seeing someone test and iterate in public is super motivating.
Rooting for Fileo — keep those experiments coming
thanks! That's actually building in public. Sometimes hard to align with just building, but yeah, happy to share insights helpful to others.
Totally — building in public isn’t easy to balance with actual building, but it’s what makes this community so valuable. Appreciate you sharing the journey! 🙌
Really love the promise behind Fileo; simplifying file management and making it feel like a seamless "digital filing cabinet". The tighter focus on organization + searchability is exactly what most apps miss when they try to do everything.
Two quick ideas that could compound:
"Smart tags" for automatic file categorization based on content and context (work, personal, etc.).
"One-click organization" feature, where users can select a category, and Fileo automatically groups everything based on AI-driven rules.
Curious: What single moment best predicts a paying user for you; first file organized, a second folder created, or inviting a teammate? And which channel is bringing paying users; content/SEO, organic reach, or referrals?
P.S. I’m with Buzz, we build conversion-focused Webflow sites and pragmatic SEO for product launches. Happy to share a tight GTM checklist if useful.
Really appreciate your thoughtful feedback!
You're absolutely right, that’s exactly what most apps miss, and it's what I'm trying to do better :)
Smart tags are a great idea. I've only considered them so far for internal optimization, but I'll definitely explore what's possible with Google Drive and the other cloud integrations.
The one-click organization is already on my list – basically re-organizing existing documents, especially useful when users don't have a solid structure they want to keep.
Regarding your question: I don't have user data yet, so it's only guessing for now – but I'd say the key moment is when someone uploads their second or third document and realizes the system actually works.
As for acquisition, I'm focusing on organic growth and referrals from the very beginning – that's where I see the strongest trust signal.
P.S. The GTM checklist sounds great, I'd love to take a look! I'm not currently looking for agency or Webflow support though, but always happy to learn from good frameworks.
Great idea! Thanks, we have just updated ours!
Nice, would love to hear how it worked for you.
Nice.
Curious, what was the change ?
Oh damn, forgot to add it to the post (I have made screenshots, but I cannot add images to posts).
Old: "Join the Waitlist" – "Be among the first to experience automated document organization"
New: "First 100 Members Get 33% Off Forever" – "Join the waitlist now to lock in your founder discount"
Great stuff! Out of curiosity what did you change messaging wise? I find one of the toughest things with waiting lists are the levels of friction. Too extreme (I.e. putting pricing etc on when you are still in the discovery phase) can result in very few leads. Too lax (I.e. free year etc) can result in an influx of freebie hunters and poor quality leads. It’s always a bit of a challenge to find the right balance!
Thanks man.

I think this is a good balance of what you just outlined.
