Did you login to Facebook first before you scraped the data?
Facebook sueing people is pretty ironic :)
If you do it once again, will you choose to raise money or keep bootstrapping?
Ahah great question! Probably Bootstrapping :) But I've no regret, was a great story.
What would have happened if you had ignored the C&D letter?
Nothing good https://techcrunch.com/2020/10/01/facebook-sues-two-companies-engaged-in-data-scraping-operations/
Thanks
Thanks for sharing your not-so-easy experience.
What I didn't get though, why you did that? I meant violation Facebook's rules. You definitely knew you didn't something "illegal" but you did that, why?
We were thinking is not "illegal", is just scraping like a lot of company doing the same :)
But you knew you broke their rules, as "a lot of companies" did?
Brutal story, thanks for sharing. I'm scared for the future of you guys 😂 Wish you guys the best, I'll definitely follow to know the rest.
Thanks :) The end of the story is cool!
Thanks for sharing! Very interesting story. I'll be interested to see what you build next.
Facebook has become very much sensitive after Cambridge Analytica event.
Right! :)
Thanks for sharing, I love when people are transparent about the downs as well as the ups. It's crazy that it took 8 months to negotiate with Facebook, clearly they are still worried about another Cambridge Analytica.
100% :)
