From a Simple Idea to Thousands of Users: How I Built a Percentage Calculator for Brazil

It all started when I noticed a simple problem—many percentage calculators online were either cluttered, inaccurate, or not optimized for mobile users. I was searching for a tool that could quickly calculate percentages in real-life scenarios—discounts, financial planning, or business calculations—without unnecessary complexity. But I couldn’t find one that truly met the needs of Brazilian users.

So, I built Calculadora de Porcentagem.

At first, it was just a side project. I designed it to be fast, clean, and easy to use, with a focus on real-world calculations. Without any major promotion, it started gaining traction. Within months, I saw thousands of users using the tool daily, proving that a simple and well-designed solution can go a long way.

But now, I’m thinking bigger. How can I scale this? What features would make it even more useful? I’d love to hear insights from others who have built and grown similar tools.

If you’ve worked on educational or utility-based tools, what strategies helped you grow your audience? 🚀

Really nice case study. A percentage calculator is one of those simple tools that looks basic at first, but the demand makes sense because people need quick answers for discounts, price changes, increases, decreases, and everyday comparisons.

I am working on a similar percentage calculator for multiple language users here:

One thing I agree with from your experience is that the tool itself is only part of the project. The examples, page structure, search intent, and localized use cases probably matter just as much as the calculator logic.
