From App Store Rejections to Instant Approvals: Our Blueprint for Shipping Mobile Apps Without the Drama

There are few feelings more frustrating than finishing a mobile app, clicking "Submit for Review," and waiting for Apple or Google to drop the hammer with a generic rejection code.

After shipping countless native apps for ourselves and our clients, we’ve learned that app store rejections aren't usually malicious—they’re a failure to follow invisible rules.

Here is our internal checklist to get apps approved smoothly on the first try:

  • Permissions must have a pitch: Never call a native API (camera, location, Bluetooth) without triggering a clear, contextual permission prompt explaining why the user needs to grant access. A naked system prompt is an instant flag.

  • Account deletion is non-negotiable: If your app requires user accounts or registration, Apple and Google will reject it unless there is a clearly visible, friction-free way to delete the account and associated data directly inside the app. No "email support to delete" loopholes.

  • Metadata consistency: Make sure your privacy policy link is live, accurate, and matches what your app actually collects in the App Store Connect / Play Console privacy nutrition labels.

Mastering the review guidelines saves weeks of dead time in development cycles.

What’s the most ridiculous reason you’ve ever had an app rejected by Apple or Google?
