From broken Word formatting to building an AI .docx generator — 5 months as a college student
I'm a college student. Every semester I have 3–4 major projects.
The coding and research never bothered me — it was the
documentation that was slowly breaking me.
The workflow was always the same: use AI to draft content, copy
into Word, watch everything fall apart. Fonts changing
mid-sentence. Broken tables. Weird indentation. I was spending
2–3 hours per document just fixing formatting — not writing,
not thinking, just fighting margins and headers.
At some point I realized I still had 5 semesters left of this.
Something had to change.
So I built DocReplacer.
How it works
You describe what you want — a project report, a proposal,
a brief — in plain text. It generates a clean, properly
formatted .docx and downloads it instantly.
No copy-pasting. No reformatting. No broken tables.
It works at the XML level directly, which is why the formatting
actually holds — most tools convert to HTML first and that's
where everything breaks.
