From Freelancer to Agency: My First 30 Days Building Graphixa™

Hey IH,

After freelancing for several years, I finally took the leap and turned my solo work into a small agency called Graphixa™, a design + dev subscription service for founders. I wanted to share what the first 30 days have looked like (both the good and the messy), in case it helps anyone else thinking about making the same jump.

Why I made the switch

  • As a freelancer, I kept hitting capacity limits, I could only take on so many projects myself.

  • Clients often needed more than just me (branding + decks + web + product design).

  • I realized founders don’t want to manage 5 freelancers. They want one team that “just gets it done.”

What I built in 30 days

  • A small team of designers to handle more requests at once.

  • Unlimited design + web + hosting packages with simple pricing (no hourly guessing).

  • A workflow that makes requests → revisions → delivery faster.

  • A couple of early projects (some from past clients, some from cold outreach).

What worked

  • My past clients were my first buyers. A simple email saying “Hey, I’ve launched Graphixa now” led to sign-ups.

  • Transparent pricing got more interest than I expected — founders hate hidden fees.

  • Posting lessons learned (like this one!) sparked conversations with potential leads.

What’s been tough

  • Marketing is harder than I thought without paid ads. Email outreach and posting in communities are slow burns.

  • Scaling processes - when multiple requests pile up, keeping quality high is a challenge.

  • Imposter syndrome - moving from “just me” to “agency founder” feels like a big mindset shift.

Next 30 days goals

  • Double down on content marketing (more case studies + educational posts).

  • Refine onboarding i.e. make it smoother for clients.

  • Land 3–5 recurring subscriptions.
