From HN overload to a tool that helps me learn faster. My solo-founder story.

Hey fellow indie hackers!

Like many of you, I love Hacker News for its insights, but I constantly found myself drowning in the comment sections. A "quick look" would turn into a 45-minute rabbit hole., and I still wasn't sure if I was spending my time on the most relevant discussions.

I wanted to stop just consuming information and start learning efficiently.

So, I'm starting my #buildinpublic journey to build the solution. My goal is to create a tool that helps busy professionals filter fast and learn faster.

Here's what I've built so far:

1. Filter Fast: Find what matters to YOU.

  • Personalized Interest Scoring: It scores every post on HN based on my chosen topics (e.g., AI, Rust, SaaS), so I can instantly see what’s relevant to my work and interests.

2. Learn Faster: Get the key insights instantly.

  • 30‑second TL;DR: Get an AI-powered summary of any article and its entire comment section.

  • Comment Insights: Instantly understand the discussion's sentiment, see the key argument clusters, and find the most insightful takes.

The Goal & My Motivation:

My primary goal is to see if I can turn this personal pain point into a small, sustainable, privacy-focused SaaS. I'm bootstrapping this solo and plan to be completely transparent with my progress, failures, and learnings right here on IH.

How it's made (Tech Stack):

  • Frontend: Next.js

  • Backend: Python/Nodejs

  • AI: OpenAI API

  • Database: Supabase

  • Hosting: Vercel/AWS/Cloudflare

This is where you come in! I'd love your brutally honest feedback, especially on:

  • The Idea Itself: Is this a vitamin or a painkiller for you? Is this a real business or just a feature?

  • The Demo: Is the user flow clear? What's confusing?

  • Pricing Strategy: I'm thinking of a free tier + a simple ~$5/month plan for power features like comments insights. As an indie hacker, would YOU pay for this? What would make it a no-brainer?

  • Landing Page: Does the value proposition on my landing page make sense in the first 5 seconds?

You can try the live demo and sign up for early access here:
