From idea to $1000 in pre-sales: My build in public success story

Introduction

Are you an indie maker looking to build your first product?

Look no further, because I'm here to share my success story with you.

I managed to make $1000 in pre-sales without even building my product, all thanks to the power of "build in public."

It all started with a build in public challenge

I wanted to show my audience how I was building my product, step by step. I invited people to join the challenge and in exchange, they gave me their email addresses. Over 900 people followed along, and it was a great way to generate leads.

The lead magnet

Next, I created a free template in Notion that helped guide people through the process of building their own products. This template was downloaded over 500 times.

test

With a substantial audience and a valuable resource, I launched my complete offer with a 50% discount for those who had downloaded the Notion template and those who had followed my challenge.

The result?

I managed to sell my product organically and even made more than $300 in January just from visits to my Twitter profile.

The success key

The key to my success was "build in public."

By sharing my progress and engaging with my audience, I was able to market my product for free and generate leads.

And the best part? Cost

The only cost I incurred was for my website builder:

  • Carrd: $49 (Landing Page)
  • Gumroad: $0 (payment system)
  • Ads : $0 (build in public)
  • Notion : $0 'product)

Conclusion

If you're an indie maker looking to build your first product, don't be afraid to try "build in public."

It's a powerful way to market your product, generate leads, and even make sales before you even build your product.

So go ahead, give it a try and let me know how it works out for you!

And now ?

I'm Victor, solopreneur, I set myself a challenge to build 12 micro startups in 12 months and you can follow it on my twitter
