Hey Indie Hackers, I’m Lily — a solo indie dev with no team, no investors, and zero prior AI video expertise. Yet, over the past few months, I turned a simple idea into a fully functioning platform: Textideo.com.
The past couple of years have seen crazy progress in Text to Video tech. We’ve gone from blurry, short clips to smooth, cinematic 1080p videos generated by AI. But here’s what I noticed:
I wanted to build something different:

At first, my idea was straightforward:
“Users input a sentence or upload an image, and within minutes, get a high-quality short video.”
But as I dove in, reality hit hard:
I spent two months prototyping, scrapping, and rebuilding until I had something stable.
1. Model Integration
Textideo supports Google Veo 3, WAN 2.2, SeeDance, etc. Each shines in different areas.
2. Privacy by Design
Generated videos aren’t stored long-term — users have a brief window to download before automatic deletion.
3. Flexible Pricing
No subscriptions here. Instead, a credit-based system: buy credits, use them when you want, no auto-renewals.
4. Speed Optimization
Video generation is resource-heavy, so I deployed multi-node GPU clusters to keep wait times low.
When I first shared Textideo on Twitter, I was amazed by the feedback:
“Finally, a platform where I don’t have to sign up just to try AI video!”
“I hate monthly fees — pay-as-you-go is exactly what I wanted.”
Educators and marketers alike found it super helpful.
If you’re stuck, start small, solve a real problem, iterate constantly.
Textideo’s still evolving, and I’m excited to add more soon. If you’re curious about AI video or just want to experiment, check it out 👉 textideo.com
Would love to hear your thoughts and ideas!
Really enjoyed reading your journey from idea to launch with Textideo! As a solo founder myself, I truly appreciate how you prioritized simplicity and user experience—especially the no-login, pay-as-you-go model. It’s refreshing to see a platform that respects users’ time and privacy while delivering powerful AI video tools. The credit system is a clever way to break away from the subscription fatigue so many creators face today.
Your transparent sharing of challenges and solutions is inspiring for other indie makers navigating similar paths. It’s clear you’ve built something that not only works but genuinely empowers creators to bring their visions to life easily.
On a related note, I’m working on a project called Photo Collage Maker, which helps users create beautiful photo collages quickly and without hassle. Like Textideo, it’s designed with simplicity and user control in mind.
Looking forward to seeing how Textideo grows — keep up the awesome work!
Thanks! I checked out your project—it looks like it just hatched recently. Looking forward to seeing it grow!
I like your product. We also welcome suggestions for our products.
You have a sign in button tho, so you do create an account?
A user’s remaining points are best stored directly in their account—it’s the most natural place to keep track of them.🤣
so user pays then you say pls register and if he doesnt credits are lost one he resets cache etc?
Points never reset—they’re yours to keep forever. Besides your device, the only thing that can securely hold your points is your account. Devices aren’t as reliable for keeping them safe, so using an account is really the best way. Or, do you have a better idea for storing points safely without requiring a login?
bro you say it's a no-login platform so I'm asking you ^^
Great read! I love how Textideo skips the login hoops and offers pay-as-you-go access — exactly what creators need to stay flexible and focused on their work. The emphasis on privacy and ease really stands out in the AI space.
I’m building tempmail3, a simple, no-signup temporary email service that values privacy and speed. It’s been rewarding to create tools that remove friction for users, just like you did with Textideo.
Keep pushing boundaries!
Cool, that’s exactly what I was thinking. This temp email tool is something everyone needs. I really see a lot of potential here. Wishing all the best for your little project!
I love Programmers who are creative
thats what makes us unstoppable
Hey Lily, impressive work, especially for a solo founder!
this is so cool lily ! congratulations !!!!!
Hey Lily, really impressed with what you’ve done! For your use case it makes a lot of sense. In my case (Luxememory), the model wouldn’t work the same way — but I’m curious to see how far you can take yours.
"Hey Lily, impressive work, especially for a solo founder! Congrats on the progress. The pay-as-you-go model is a really interesting and bold approach in a subscription-dominated world.I'm also building in the AI video space, and I'm curious about your experience with the 'storyboard' feature. Have you found that users prefer that level of control, or are they looking for a more automated 'one-click' generation? One small piece of feedback on your post: the story behind why you chose the pay-as-you-go model is super compelling. You could make that an even bigger part of your messaging.Great job, and looking forward to seeing where you take this!"
Thank you so much!
Love how you stripped away all the usual friction points — no login, no subscription, just straight to creating. The privacy‑first approach is refreshing too. It’s clear you actually listened to what frustrates users and built around that. Excited to see where you take Textideo next.
This is super inspiring, Lily 👏 The no-login + pay-as-you-go combo is such a smart move, most AI video tools feel heavy just to try out. Love how you focused on privacy too, that’s something many platforms overlook. Curious: which model do your users seem to prefer most so far (Google Veo, WAN, or SeeDance)?
This nails a real gap sometria, With 59% of creators preferring pay-as-you-go over subscriptions and 68% abandoning tools that force watermarks or public sharing, your model is solving exactly where others fail. And since a 20–30% faster workflow can double repeat usage, that instant preview feels like the real growth hook.
Really like the “no login + pay as you go” angle. It’s surprising how many platforms overlook the casual creator segment who just want to try something without committing to a subscription.
The multi-model support is also a smart move — each model has its own strengths, so giving people options is a big plus.
Curious, did you notice a higher conversion rate after removing the login entirely, or was that baked into the plan from day one?
Yo Lily, mad respect: this is exactly the kind of indie hustle I stan. You’re lowering the barrier in a space where everyone’s trying to lock people into subscriptions (like mage or runway).
Exactly🤣
Awesome! I love the philosophy here. Any tips for growing an audience from scratch?
Focus on promotion.
What a coincidence! Our Accio Sourcing AI follows a similar philosophy - users just need to input one sentence or image to get complete procurement insights. It sounds simple, but it took us nine grueling months to implement, so we truly understand your development journey. The instant video generation from Textideo is truly impressive - excited to see where you take it next!
Thank you so much! 🙏 Nine months of development sounds intense — I really respect the dedication that went into Accio Sourcing AI. It’s always inspiring to hear from fellow creators who tackle similar challenges. I’m really curious, since your platform focuses on procurement insights, do you have any tips or features you think could make Textideo even more helpful or user-friendly for people generating videos instantly? I’d love to hear your thoughts!
Really appreciate you asking for cross-industry perspectives! While we're in different fields, one universal insight we've found is that users increasingly want platforms to deliver maximum functionality through minimalist interfaces. Whether in B2B procurement or social apps, that marriage of powerful capabilities with clean design seems to be the new expectation. Just sharing what we're seeing - might be an interesting lens for video creation tools too!
Thanks a ton for sharing your thoughts! Really appreciate it. 🙏
Yeah, I just want to make some videos once in a while. This platform is so cool.
Haha! Did you give it a try now? You’re also very welcome to share any valuable feedback — I’d really appreciate it.
Wow, this is so cool. I love your grind and commitment
Thank you!
So cool
I just wonder is this a sustainable model. I too like the pay-as-you-go, but I would assume you’re not profitable yet due to infrastructure cost in this model. Can you comment on that, how do you sustain the infrastructure based on the pay-as-you-go with the high cost of GPU’s? Also, many people will pay for subscriptions if the product solves a real problem and a company with reoccurring revenue is worth a lot more than pay-as-you-go revenue company if you’re wanting an exit at some point. Congratulations on you’re launch.
I really like the no-login, pay-as-you-go approach.Looking forward to seeing how Textideo grows. Thanks!
Stripping away the logins and subs is such a breath of fresh air...
Hey! I’m also working on my own app right now (still a solo founder, below 18). I’m stuck with figuring out monetization and updates on a tight budget. Your post gave me some ideas — could I ask you a couple of questions about how you managed app launch, updates, monetization etc.
Really impressive, Lily! 🚀 Love the no-login, pay-as-you-go approach — removing friction is such a game changer. Checking out Textideo now!
Your experience is helpful. I tried many tools but this is really satisfying one
Good observation, login requirement really demotivated many users from even trying the solution and monthly subscription is not for everyone
Totally agree!
Really cool idea! This kind of approach is perfect for people who don’t have much experience with video production. Especially nowadays with social media everywhere, there’s a huge demand for this. I was curious and gave your site a try by writing a prompt to see how it works, but it looks like there’s no free trial available.
I think it’d be great if you could offer a free trial so people can actually test out your features and see if it fits their needs before paying. I run a site called Accio that helps small B2B businesses and less experienced folks find the right supply chains quickly, and we do daily free trial uses so users can get a feel for what we offer. It’s worked pretty well for us. Just a friendly suggestion though—I totally get if you have your own way of running things!
So cool, one question: can i generate video from my content like images, short videos and combine with prompts to create new videos.
Sure!
This is such a refreshing approach, Lily 🙌
Cutting out the login/subscription friction is huge — especially for people who just want to experiment without a commitment.
I love how you tackled privacy from the start instead of treating it as an afterthought, and the multi-model support makes Textideo feel more like a creative playground than a single-tool app.
Curious — do you plan on adding any “preset styles” so casual users can get cinematic results without tweaking too many options? That could make it even more beginner-friendly.
Seriously impressive indie execution here 🚀
Love the no-login + pay-as-you-go combo — honestly feels like a breath of fresh air in AI SaaS.
Most platforms make you jump through hoops before you can even test something, so lowering that friction is huge. I’m curious: how’s the conversion rate from “first try” to “paying credits” now that there’s zero signup barrier?
Also, your privacy-first approach is underrated. I can see that being a big selling point for marketers and educators who can’t risk prompts/videos being stored.
you can submit your SaaS to our directory website ..........
free for 7 days...............
Love how you tackled the usual barriers with AI video tools ........no login, no subscription, privacy-first. The credit system feels perfect for casual users. How did you decide which models to start with?
This is a solid example of identifying pain points and turning them into product features. The no-login + pay-as-you-go model really stands out especially in AI tools where friction can kill adoption fast.
While working on AI-driven solutions at Diggit Global, we’ve seen how much early UX decisions (like sign-up flow) impact long-term retention. Curious did you test multiple onboarding flows before settling on the no-login approach, or was it clear from the start?
thats very informative
