Hi indies,
After spending a few months working on my niche job board (www.woody3.xyz) using no-code tools, I hit a wall a few months in. Lots of my pages were not indexed, page performance was low, and impossible to add google for jobs. Design choices were also limited.
In order to increase traffic, I chose to rebuild it. I got help from a tech friend, and we did it in two weeks (he's really good!!). No Code is absolutely awesome for MVPs, getting your first users and validating your positioning. However, if you want to grow a traffic business - you might get stuck quickly.
The main focus now is to work on SEO and increase that traffic: weekly blog posts, backlinks strategies and outreach for more job postings.
I would love your feedback on this version, what do you think?
What would be the best moves to increase traffic?
ps: I'm learning it all, and it's much harder to grow a job board than I initially thought but I'm committed to making it successful, the niche attracts lots of attention :) If you're a marketing pro, your advice would be valuable!
Thank you,
What software did you use for the no-code job board MVP?
Hey! I used softr.io, great for this use case.
Nice site, Mathilde! I like the consistent cute cat(?) branding.
Even though I'm a marketer, I have a hunch that manual outreach to relevant target customers is necessary in the early stage. (That is what I'm doing too!) Especially since SEO will take a while.
Also, curious, how do you add or edit the job listings since you are not using no-code tools now?
Hey Alfred, thanks for your message. And yes, I confirm it's a cat ;)
Great tip there, I think the focus at this stage is double: background work on SEO (articles, backlinks), and lots of outreach. I need to double down on it, but I already had some opportunities popping up thanks to this such as co-writing an article or sharing quotes. I'm curious about your outreach strategy. Do you target them on LinkedIn? and mainly do calls?
For the job listings, we created an admin panel, which syncs with my original airtable to retrieve data. So, I still operate the basics on airtable (add, edit jobs) but I will slowly move out of it.
Cat, yay!
Oh yes, the work on SEO has to start early. So far, I have been trying Twitter, which hasn't been that great. I might actually try LinkedIn! We also have a small regular stream of signups, so we reach out to them too to learn more about their needs, etc.
Ah, Airtable is a popular option. Curious what did you use to create the admin panel and what will you move to?
SEO SEO SEO! Paid Ads help you reach customers, SEO helps customers reach you.
Yep, that's a daily grind ;) what would be a good SEO practice you recommend?
Besides optimizing the site, I plan on posting one article a week with clear steps: keyword research based on ranking difficulty + volume, identifying "search questions", and writing up articles based on this.
Didn't explore paid ads yet.
Nice looking website and easy to use, congrats on (re)building it in 2 weeks!
Thank Alex! I appreciate the feedback :)
I agree that no-code is amazing for MVPs especially as a non-technical founder.
About increasing traffic; although I have minimal experience in marketing I can share what a friend told me. Post videos on TikTok about it. Had a quick look at TikTok videos about web3 jobs and there was some good engagement. Looks like the website https://web3.career/ is getting a lot of content made about it or made by it idk hahaha.
TikTok is amazing on going from 0 to 500 views in a few minutes, making it much quicker than other marketing platforms.
That's great advice. I also saw several sites get insane traffic thanks to TikTok. Though I noticed, they often don't share it themselves, TikTok users (with big audiences) randomly share it and it goes viral. I guess it's something like an influencer strategy?
anyway, great tip to look into! thank you!
I think it looks beautiful!
Thank you geoffrey! Appreciate it :)
I love your updates!
Is the new website already live? URL? :)
Thank you Katt!
