From one SaaS founder to another: You're not spending enough time on the pricing of your SaaS

Pricing is definitely something that you need to consider deeply. What features are you implementing and additional services are you adding for each price point. Then you need to consider sustainability, it's hard to go up in price and while it's easy to come down, your users may have already left or found an alternative.

A hard pricing problem is for startups that are in the area of reducing cost, how do you go about it?

    • charging percentage of saved money?
      • measuring the percentage might be a hard to prove formula
    • fixed monthly price?
      • churn rates will be very high
    • fixed price yearly/for life?
      • the price point is gonna be too high for a young business

I'm just starting to consider pricing for my SaaS. I do wish I'd thought about it sooner as this may have changed what features I built. Thanks for the info though, it's helpful to consider all the different pricing options.

Your advice is really helpful, especially the use cases and examples. I'm on my third SaaS now and the problem I've had is localization. I didn't want to limit my product to just one country/region but there doesn't seem to be a good way to offer pricing across different continents. Interested to hear if other SaaS founders have found a solution to this if their product is marketed globally.

Not sure what you're referring to exactly, but at least Paddle offers different prices per country.
