From WordPress to SvelteKit: The Evolution of a Developer and the Birth of a No Code Inspiration Hub

Hey there IndieHackers!

I want to apologize for my absence, it's been a while since I've been active here.

In addition to building my company HEATE, I've also been dedicating a lot of time to learning Javascript and working on a new project that I'm excited to share with you today...

A lil backstory,

It all started back in December 2017 when I created a project called Made With Page Builders. I was inspired by @robhope from OnePageLove and his amazing job curating beautiful designs.

I wanted to do something similar but for sites that were made with no code.

However, I let it fail because I became distracted with other opportunities. And adding new sites wasn't a great experience either because it was a manual process 😭

Fast forward to about a week and a half ago, when I received an email from my WP hosting about my yearly renewal.

It hit me...

I have the freaking chops now to rebuilt it 100x better 🤯👀

Because since then, I've learned to code and know way more than I did back then, so I dropped the old name for a new one - "nocode.gallery" - and got to work building it.

To build this all out I decided to use SvelteKit, which may seem ironic given the focus on no code web design. However, the reason for this decision is that it allows me to kill two birds with one stone; Gain some new developer exp and use some cool new (bleeding edge) tech. 😈

Additionally, I knew I would be interacting with multiple external APIs, and it's just more efficient for me than piecing together different Zaps. ⚡️

For the frontend, I'm using TailwindCSS and for the backend, I'm using Sanity.io because it's an incredibly flexible CMS.

Sanity allows me to run certain actions after a new post gets published. For example, I'm using ScreenshotOne (which is really amazing btw) from fellow Indiehacker @DmytroKrasun to automatically create a screenshot once I hit publish.

For hosting I choose Vercel, and that's about it — there's not a ton of special sauce 🥫.

All in all, I'm excited to share all of the incredible sites that are made with no code. There are so many undiscovered gems out there, and I have now made it my mission to bring them to the forefront.

Additionally, I'm looking into creating a job board for finding Webflow, Elementor, and other no code experts. I think it would be a great way to connect talented individuals with the right opportunities. 💪

Of course, no project is without its challenges, and for me, one of the biggest obstacles is my tendency to go overboard with design. And it took me a bit to realize that it's not about MY design, but it's about the designs I'm showcasing. So going forward, I'll keep it mind to be overly minimalistic, I can always do more later on.

Oh yeah, I couldn't help myself to use some AI, to create the image for next to the newsletter opt-in 😆

Finally if you know of or have an amazing site that needs to be on nocode.gallery, please share it with me! You can submit a site here, or just throw it in the comments and I'll go from there.

If you have any Q's, let me know! Also happy to do dive into more specifics about the tech stack, or about the future of no code.

Thanks for sharing, Chris 👌 How do you plan to monetize the project?

      Yessir 👀!

I'm looking into job boards, but also paid submissions. But value should be first, don't want to monetize just for the sake of it.

But job board or paid submission give value, too. Why not to monetize early?

Way to go Chris. Stunning work:)
