From YouTube to SaaS: Florin Pop’s Road to Success

This is the story of Floin Pop.
Florin Pop, a developer from Romania, started coding at 18 and took on freelance projects for fun. After college, he freelanced full-time before landing a remote job as a React developer. Two years later, he left to focus on blogging, sharing coding tutorials, and growing an audience on Twitter and YouTube.
In 2019, he began creating YouTube videos and set a goal to reach 100,000 subscribers, which he achieved by March 2021. Along the way, he wrote an ebook, created a coding course, and explored indie hacking. This led to the launch of iCodeThis, a platform where developers improve their skills through coding challenges.
Florin built and launched iCodeThis in December 2022, quickly gaining traction. By leveraging his audience, the platform reached 100 users in four days and introduced paid tiers after 3.5 months. It now has 55,000 members, nearly 900 paid users, and has generated over $65,000 in revenue.
His success was fueled by his existing audience, affiliate partnerships, and strategic marketing. Though iCodeThis was his full-time focus in 2024, Florin now balances it with other projects, continuing to innovate in the developer community.
