Full focus on my products - Weekly backlog 2020/10
After I finished my freelance projects, this was the first week in 2020 when I could work on my own products full time again. There were several items on my todo list, bigger and smaller, and I tried to complete most of them.
I found out that the countdown timer I implemented on Story View and Gift Hunt wasn’t working as supposed to so I fixed that. (if you are looking for a countdown script to add it to your website, here is what I’m using: https://codepen.io/feriforgacs/pen/QWbapVy it’s far from perfect but does the job).
I’ve also updated some parts of the copy on the landing page of Gift Hunt but there is room for more improvements there.
I finally made the switch from Mailgun to Sendgrid. It took a bit more time to implement the necessary changes as I didn’t have the right tools in place to test my changes and although none of my products have thousands of subscribers, everyone's inbox is sacred so I don’t want to mess with that.
I’ve spent some time taking a closer look at the numbers in my analytics and I saw that hits on the contact page are strangely high. There is not much information on that page and I don’t get a ton of emails regarding my products so I thought that’s because people don’t want to send an email to me, they are probably looking for an easier solution. So I added live chat to Story View and Gift Hunt. Noone sent a message yet, but at least, now they have the opportunity to do that.
Oh, and I finally got a response from one of the users of Discount Hunt. Every time someone uninstalls the app, they get a message where I’m asking for their feedback, how to make the app better. Noone sent a response before, but it finally happened. It turned out that the 5-day trial wasn’t enough for them to test the application, so they removed it from their store. I reset their trial period so they can give it another try. Based on this one feedback, I’m not going to change anything in the app but I’m happy that someone took the time to send me a reply.
