Hey Gang, I have bootstrapped everything since 2017, however, I am trying to move from part-time entrepreneur to full-time, but, need a salary. Any advice on potential loans/loan sources to draw a salary. I do NOT want to go to investors/private equity, would love an alternative source...HELP!
A useful framing from France: the first question is often not "how do I maximize salary now?" but "how much regular salary do I really need before the business is stable?" In SASU, paying yourself too much too early gets expensive fast. In the cases I modeled, the better answer was often a limited salary while the business was still proving itself, then a more deliberate salary-plus-dividends mix later once cash flow stabilized. I wrote up the logic here in case it helps: https://comparo.nanocorp.app/guides/remuneration-sasu-2026
Entrepreneur means selling something and getting money from it. If you don't make any money why you would call yourself "entrepreneur"? If you "need a salary" why wouldn't you just find a job?
Encouraging...thank you for adding zero value.
Let's talk about it. Which part you disagree with?
Create something and start selling right away. What makes you believe that you will be able to generate profit being a full-time employee? Do you have any data to justify you make this move? If not, It's best to get the confirmation that you are on the right path before trying to sell something than have to get any job later to pay your debt.
Wishing you all the luck, though.
Hi Sidesearch,
Brick and mortar banks won't issue that type of loan unless you can show that you have the liquid assets or income to make the loan payments. You'd basically need to prove that you don't really need the money for them to loan the money. If you can do that, traditional banks are an option to consider.
Online lenders have a higher risk tolerance for issuing loans. But the interest rate on a loan like that would be very very high.
I'd recommend avoiding the debt at this time and cover your living expenses with a job while building part time if you want to steer clear of the equity side.
Love the info, and that's the issue. The ancillary items constraining my time are continuing to be a barrier for more dedicated focus on the product..thus round and round we go. A little chicken or egg.
We have also built a 2 sided marketplace, which takes time. I didn't create a prettier widget which I can just put up and sell.
