Furniture in the Circular Economy

9.4 Billion tons of furniture are wasted each year. We endeavor to leverage the circular economy to solve this problem. This is an evolution of an existing project.

What are your thoughts on the concept/landing page?

This is very good idea to use the online platforms for furniture store. I'm already working on the same model. You can see here https://tcl365.ie/

I'm all about this concept in general! Buying and selling used stuff is one of the best ways to cut down on waste. Here's a few thoughts/impressions for you:

    • Not trying to be snarky, but I'm a bit of a craigslist junky and use it for furniture frequently. For all of its flaws, you can really find some good deals on quality furniture there. What's the value proposition of your platform exactly? i.e. what would it give me that craigslist doesn't/can't? I could imagine there a few things, but it's not really clear to me right now.
    • I think it's a little confusing that your URL is "furnitureforthefuture", but the actual name of your platform appears to be "w/o end".
    • The landing page feels a little busy to me and could do a better job of pulling me in - some imagery might help, but I think the messaging is also a little muddied. For example, in this thread you really lead with the "9.4 billion tons" thing, but that's super buried on your landing page. Also, I'm not sure how "DESIGN YOUR ETERNAL ENVIRONMENT" plays into everything. If cutting down on waste is really a central goal of your platform, I would really lean into that more on your landing page.

@mikes_ Thanks for your response! The main value prop is that you are able to sell furniture back to us for money — think of a Buffalo Exchange model where you have the option for 50% cash or 75% store credit for your item, in addition to being able to buy new on the platform. We have been working on a project in this space for 2 years now, but are testing this to see if it may be a more viable/clearer future path — hence URL confusion.

Ah gotcha! Yeah that's definitely appealing to me - a bunch of questions come up re: like.. how would shipping work, what about large furniture, curation, inventory management, etc. Definitely seems like it would have its operational challenges, but I don't really work in this space so I'm not too familiar. Either way, I would definitely be intrigued by an online service geared towards this!

Best of luck digging into the idea and building it out if you choose to do so!
