Gaining 100+ waitlist users with minimal marketing

Hello builders!

We've recently hit a milestone with Logoshaper, our logo maker for startups and SaaS companies. We are two friends (dev & design) and it was almost 2 years since our latest launch together. After doing some research and finding ourselves not happy with the current logo maker landscape, we decided to build a logo maker that doesn't suck. One that focuses on great minimal design and great UX, build for startup first.

Starting a new project can be a bit scary, especially when you think about marketing (which has never been my strength) but in the last few weeks, I've started to see things differently. I've been sharing more about what I'm building on Twitter and it's not as hard as I thought. It's a long-term thing, but it can really make a big difference. Now, instead of just doing one big launch, I try to share a little bit every day.

For our logo maker, we started with a little bit of marketing and shared a simple landing page to see how it would go and to get feedback. It's been really good - we've already got over 100 people on our waitlist. Here's a quick look at what we did:

  • Subreddits: We shared Logoshaper on two relevant subreddits, attracting a significant number of sign-ups. We don't want to post on 10 subreddits and get marked as spam. So we select /SideProject and /thesidehustle, and we write a short intro text and a CTA. We also tried a catchy title (a bit provocative to be honest) and It worked quite well for us.

  • Twitter: We used Twitter to share our journey and engage with the community, which helped build awareness. The #buildinpublic is pretty cool and supportive. It's been a great place to share with other builders. We've focused on building real connections, rather than just sharing our project everywhere.

  • Building hype: We built a simple landing page that explains the product and shows what we are building, emphasizing Logoshaper's unique value. I think we can still go further in showing how it is different.

It’s been refreshing to think differently than the last time and not even try to « launch » officially like we used to do. Instead, we're constantly doing some marketing in a very simple and honest way. The next steps are to double our efforts and to release the product soon (maybe this week).

If you're interested in what we are building, you can join our waitlist at https://logoshaper.co/. Excited to hear your thoughts!
