Gamifying Sports. Any experiences?

There is an opportunity. I identified that in sports, there are huge rivalries even between friends. I know people who take additional coaching sessions just to beat their friend.

Knowing that this isn't an isolated case, we can set out and build a system where people are rewarded for their rivalry.

Does anybody have any experiences to share? Have any of you tried to turn a match into a game?
