No, it doesn't work like that.
GDPR is an optional tool for the EU courts to tackle the most extreme cases of privacy neglect.
Actual fines through GDPR have happened extremely rarely and only on major, repeated cases. The rules state that first stages of resolution is asking the company to improve their practices.
The courts that could ask for compensations, do not care about an email one person received.
Try going to your local police station and asking them to arrest the prime minister/president because he hid in a fridge. Same chance of success.
