Get out of your shell and Discover something new!

Like the headline says that's what I'm working on with my project, Funmetric.

A place to give you a better content discovery experience that exposes you to things usually not inside the bubble we've created for ourselves socially and creatively.

I'm not a big talker or super active on social media but I'm still human just like each one of you with different tastes and desires to discover new things.

Why Did I Build This?

Content discovery and recommendations are saturated and the organic experience is driven by platform agendas (algorithms, ads, etc.) to keep your focus on just a particular bubble (train of thought).

It's like when we were all introduced to the internet for the first time. It was fresh, it was interesting, it was constantly changing what you could discover. I want to bring that excitement back of not knowing what you may discover and it could be your next "fun" thing in life.

Who Is This For?

People looking for new content, media, topics to discover that focuses more on their interests based on their evolving tastes in a barely identical Metacritic meets Reddit-stylized format.

Where the more you vote on items of interest the more robust your Taste Index becomes which automatically recommends a wide spectrum of content to you no matter if you are purely a gamer or interest lies solely in tech. The Taste Index will give you recommendations for all major interests (categories).

Ultimate Goal

To make money of course like every indie hacker here.

I won't lie to you, but the biggest thing on my mind is to break up the status quo of how we are exposed to media and give not just 1st world countries, but all communities a place to expand what they are exposed to on social media and the internet itself.

Conclusion

I've built a Reddit, StumbleUpon, Twitter, Pinterest, Metacritic, Facebook-hybrid with a mix of Edutainment and gamification with a strong focus on discovery and personal modifications.

In short, I don't have a direct instant click-in-your-mind comparison other than Metacritic meets Reddit, but it's one of those things you just have to experience to see if it gets you out of your shell.
