Getting back on track after(?) remote learning

Today is the first day the kids are back to in-person classes after the second round of remote learning. I'm completely unorganized and out of rhythm so time to get back on track with consulting and product work.

A few things I'm doing in hopes of getting myself moving quickly:

  • Sleep. Seriously I need like a day or two.
  • Clear out my task tracker and start fresh with this week's tasks only. I'll dump the old tasks in a document for reference but just want to clear out the baggage.
  • Reset my daily schedule. This is probably the hardest as having a consistent schedule is the easiest way for me to get into a flow state. It will likely take a week or two to prime the consistency.

Any others gone or going through the same situation with tips to refocus?

First, give yourself a pat on the back for getting them and you through two rounds of remote learning.

When the list is overwhelming, I recommend dividing things into the smallest parts, grabbing a sheet of scrap paper and just writing the one next small thing to do. Once it's crossed off, add another small task. And build that momentum up.
