Hey Indie Hackers 👋
I recently launched AnimeMyPic, a site that turns real-life photos into high-quality anime-style portraits using AI (think Ghibli, One Piece, Naruto, etc.).
I’ve been getting a decent amount of traffic from Twitter, Instagram, and Product Hunt — so I know the idea is catching attention.
Now I’m focusing on improving conversions — turning curious visitors into happy (paying) users.
Is the value proposition clear enough on the landing page?
Should I show more visual examples or testimonials up front?
Is pricing or trust the friction point?
Or is it just a matter of time and consistent iteration?
If you've gone through this phase — lots of interest, but few conversions — I’d love to hear what worked for you!
Thanks in advance 🙏
I can suggest that you give a sort of free trial to your users - to give them at least an idea of what they can expect. Maybe let them generate 1 image for free? Otherwise, users will be reluctant to pay for your service.
Another suggestion, on the Top portion of your landing page, I didn't realize that I had to hover over the anime images to see the original photo. Maybe, you can animate by default, where the original and the converted ones appear automatically.
Thanks a lot for the feedback — really helpful stuff! 🙏
You're absolutely right about the free trial idea — giving users a taste of what they’re getting could definitely lower the hesitation. I’ve been exploring ways to offer a limited preview or maybe 1 free image, without opening the door to spam. Still figuring out the best balance, but it’s on my radar.
Also, great point about the image hover! If it’s not obvious, that’s a UX problem — I love the idea of auto-animating the before/after. I’ll definitely experiment with that. Appreciate you taking the time! 👊
Or another suggestion - simpler one - just put some text like - "Hover over here" near your pictures. This gives the visual clue to your visitor - that they need to hover and then let them discover the original v/s the transformed pic ;-)
Thanks for the suggestion, i've already modified the gallery to automatically show the transformation every second, you were right, people wouldn't know that they have to hover! Thank you for the feedback, really appreciate it!
Check out the update and tell me what you think, i'm looking forward to your insight!
Just checked it out. Looks pretty good now. 👍
