Getting job title/company from email list

I have an email list with about 2000 subscribers, and I'd like to get a better idea of who these people are.

Is there a good service to get job titles/companies from a list of emails? Ideally cheap/free, but I'd definitely pay if it works well.

Hi, I believe you are looking for "enrichment " services , where you get "context data" like social profiles , linkedin , twitter ect..so to get information about company, titles etc.. You could then get "fancy" and add technographics ( what tech their domains use) and firmographics ( employees, revenue , even funding or hiring ...) . There are lots of possibilities to find signals of interest in what you sell . And is not to spam but quite the contrary ,filter to be relevant ..
Now, what to use . Well , and to fit in the cheap ...more or less ( left out a number of good tools but enterprise -price oriented )
    Clearbit 99$ for 1000 ( very good)
    FullContact - 1st 1000 free , then 499$ for 50K ¡ ( very good)
    VoilaNorbert - 2000 for only 40$ ( and not subscription ..) ( medium quality)
    Peopledatalabs- 1000 for free ( then 0,25 c) ( low quality) ( API only )

I am not affiliate with anyone, The "quality" ratio is my experience ( no offences ..) so i could have change .. and anyway it means that for a number of records you will not get anything but not harm in the ones you get..

And then finally one point about your goal .. I guess you are trying to" get a better idea of who they are " to sell or propose them something , so in my experience , enrichment is not only useful for that but also to then decide if is worthy connect with them in linkedin and share something relevant to each one ( nurture them etc..) I am in the process of building a system to do that in airtable or coda ( with some automations..) so let me know if you want me to share when is ready ..
    Hope this helps

This is exactly what I was looking for, thank you! I just didn't know the term "enrichment".

You're right, my goal is to segment my audience so I can decide what product/service I should build for them. I did it manually for about 10% of the list and it was helpful but super time consuming.

      Thanks again!

I can understand why you might want to do this, but I'd look at it from the other perspective. If I were a subscriber to your mailing list (I'm not, AFAIK), I'm happy to read what you send. If it stops being relevant or appears too frequently in my inbox, there's always that big old "unsubscribe" link at the bottom (or at least, I hope there is).

In other words, I'm an anonymous lurker on your mailing list.

If you go researching my email address to find my name, job title etc, trying to discover other things about me, so you can level-up your interactions with me, then I'm not sure I'm comfortable with that. If I subscribed because I'm really, really interested in your content, then possibly I'm happy to have you reach out. But if I subscribed because it was the only way to access some free download, then I'm not going to be too happy about an increased interaction.

Also, I live in GDPR-land, and I'm pretty sure you'd violate some or other GDPR rule. I don't know which one, because I'd say there are only three people in the world who fully understand GDPR (and I'm not one of them).

If you send out a survey, then it's more of a dialogue. If I'm happy to go to the next level in our "relationship", I'll respond. Otherwise not.

That's a fair point. If it "creeps people out" or crosses a legal line, I don't really want to do it.

I am most interested in learning about my audience in order to build a product that would be useful to them. Understanding their jobs will (hopefully) help me decide what I should build next. So at this point, it's less about direct marketing and more about research.

Rocketreach and Hunter IO are the usual suspects.

But if you’ve a list with over 2k+ emails that you don’t know who they’re. Think twice whether you’re eligible to use the list. Don’t take the risk of getting high spam rate.

I'm familiar with Hunter, but I'm actually trying to do the opposite:

I already have an email newsletter I send to 2k people who have double-opted in, but I want to know more about them in an automated way.

I could send a survey around, but only a certain percentage would fill it out and it'll take a while to get results.

As far as I know, Hunter won't let you upload a list of emails and get data about the people, right?
