Getting people to create content continuously
I currently run a social media app for a specific community. The app has 5000 users registered and thousands of pieces of content. The content is bite-sized thoughts about any topic, which means it's easy to create. For example, one piece of content can be "Your favorite song / Miles Davis - So What".
In early days of our launch, people came on and posted like madmen. However, about a year from launch, the content stopped flowing in, and users are dropping one by one because of this. What is the way to go about solving this issue?

There probably needs to be some kind of incentive structure. It can be something as simple as points that lead to prestige al la Reddit or could even give benefits like Stack Overflow. Another option could be something more intangible like here on Indie Hackers with the vision that Courtland sells, building your own business is how I read that vision, and which we all part take in by participating in the conversation. The common thread through these suggestions is that by giving something to the site the users get something out of it and seems like the current incentives aren't aligned to promote repeated engagement.
