Hey guys! I'm publicly building gllow.io and thought I'd share my thoughts.
gllow.io is a simple website builder for small business owners.
It started in my own country because it was really hard to create landing pages in Hebrew which is a right-to-left language, and as a different brand called "Pland".
Gradually Pland evolved to being a complete website builder and not only landing pages builder, with multiple languages, accessibility and custom clients' domains. Customers' feedback is great, specifically about the UX and ease of use, so I thought why not create a global tool, not only for Israeli business owners.
But Pland has a .co.il domain extension, so I need a different domain, and all of the "Pland" domains we're taken, so I needed a different brand name. I found and decided that "gllow.io" is short and cool.
Since "glow" means shine and spark, I thought that it made sense to make the glowing part the "edge" of my product - with gllow.io you can create glowing/shiny/beautiful websites. It was either about creating beautiful websites, or creating them easily. I decided to market the "create a stunning website" instead of the "easily create a website".
Currently I'm preparing for my first Product Hunt launch, so fixing some i18n stuff on the website, creating an English promo and tutorial videos and fixing last issues.
The entire visual identity is going to change to this: https://imgur.com/a/pBtLlxR
There are a million website builders out there, and their feature sets vary. How is gllow.io going to be different? Well, as I said, Gllow will enable you to create a beautiful website in minutes. It's not the most creative competitive differentiator, but I believe that the website building market is huge, and there is a place for a lot of builders, and being the one that gives you the most beautiful websites can be a great differentiator. Also, while it's not an edge and everyone else are also saying it, I believe that focusing on great onboarding experience and on the platform's UX is true to be a differentiator, especially when the market has a lot of similar tools and Gllow is focusing on non technical kind of customers.
Currently, Gllow/Pland is making me ~$500/month, and that's not really something I can live off from, so I need scaling. As I said, I'm getting ready for a Product Hunt launch, but that's not scaling, that's just a one-time traffic boost.
Do you have any low-budget ideas on how to scale/market? I was never good at marketing. Currently trying to think of ways to growth hack my way.
