Ghost Downloads

So I've been seeing some weird activities on the google and apple app stores...

The Situation

In a lot of the downloads I get, users end up not even opening the app or the open the app but don't create an account, so I'm wondering if requiring users to sign up is a bad idea, but then again it's the only way my app can work.

Now what

So I've been wondering if someone has also experienced this with their apps or if my app is broken. I also have one customer who hasn't used the app in 3 months but keeps on resubscribing which I'm not sad about.
