ghost.org for landing pages?

Anyone try to use ghost (ghost.org) for a landing page? If so, can you share the theme you used?

Give landen.co a try, it's how I built my landing page. One person operation and phenomenal product from @Felixg

I like this suggestion. Thank you!

I wouldn't use Ghost, ghost is blogging platform not a landing page tool. There are tonnes of landing page generators available (I've not used any so can't recommend) but that would be your best option.

Ghost does not seem like the right candidate for Landing pages. Why not use something like webflow.com where you can modify your landing pages fast based on the feedback you get?

I'd rather support a fellow indiehacker and try something new. Although, thanks for the suggestion.

Of course, but why use the wrong tool? To me, a landing page is an ever-evolving page that changes slightly, often based on the data and feedback you get from your customers. I pointed to webflow because it allows me to do just that, fast iterations.

https://twitter.com/bennydigital_/status/1219027224663248896 I have seen comments like this a lot from founders.

Webflow seems to be made for those with a background in design.

Looking at that twitter chain, it seems like the author did not work with drag and drop editors before or it did not give enough time to learn it or maybe, webflow was the wrong tool to begin with. Every tool has a learning curve, some lower some higher.

I don't see why you couldn't and the ability to do so isn't tied to the theme. Any theme will do. The only thing that matters is the content, the call to action and/or the form. Everything else is superfluous.

"ghost is blogging platform not a landing page tool":

There is no difference. The tool produces a web page: just HTML and CSS. The tool behind the curtain is only there to make you effective/efficient at what you do. Choose the tool you need to be effective.

"There are tonnes of landing page generators"

    Yes, and Ghost can work

    "landen, webflow..."

Theses are great products and worth considering but I know nothing of your requirements. Maybe Ghost is all you need. It is definitely capable.

    "Wordpress is still your friend.":

Ghost, Wordpress or Drupal could be just the thing you need.

"Ghost does not seem like the right candidate for Landing pages. ":

I don't see why not. We don't know @DevManDan's requirements.

Wordpress is still your friend. It gets a bad wrap but on early projects its a time saver. And with the amazing theme marketplaces now you can make your first pass AMAZING looking.

Ghost is great for blogs, I haven't seen anyone do a lot of custom landing pages with it.

What sort of site do you plan on building?

    1. 2

Well, I want to build a SaaS mobile app pricing tool. The site would be for the landing page, support, pricing, etc. The core functionality and value for the user comes from the mobile app.

I was wondering if anyone's done it through ghost.org
I'm open to just general recommendations. I'm familiar with python, html, css, little bit of django and AWS.

I built https://versoly.com/ we have blogging functionality very similar to Ghost and it comes with landing pages and pricing blocks.

We plan on building a knowledge base feature as well.

Sounds like building it yourself seems overkill.

        1. 1

I'll give versoly.com a chance. So far I kind of don't like that I can't select all and delete when I'm editing text. When all the text is highlighted within a box it doesn't delete when I try to delete it.

            What browser are you using?

            1. 1

Mozilla Firefox 72.0.1 (64-bit) for Ubuntu

              1. 2

Just tested in firefox very weird behaviour.

So firefox doesn't handle contentEditable combined with span elements very well. Just had to replace it with div instead.

                Just pushing live.

                1. 1

I just tried it out. Now it works about more than half the time. Some edge case must still be remaining. Huge improvement though! Happy hunting :D

Based on my experience in this post, I am now a firm believer of Cunningham's Law.

Cunningham's Law states "the best way to get the right answer on the internet is not to ask a question; it's to post the wrong answer."

    XD

A landing page should be static html. You don't need ghost or wordpress.

How do you create blog posts?
