GitHub Badges as a Source of Traffic
I've been building a developer tool (https://www.tickgit.com), and have learned that GitHub badges are a good source of sustained traffic! The absolute numbers of visitors right now are fairly low for my project and have been fairly "spikey" (I'll see an influx and a tail when posting an article or actively promoting the project somewhere, as the main source of visitors).
GitHub badges, for the projects that have added mine (the TODOs badge, see here: https://grep.app/search?q=tickgit.com) have been a cool way to pick-up sustained visitors.
I would have assumed badges get very few clicks, so that's interesting! Thanks for sharing.
To be fair - the absolute number of visits I'm getting via badges is still pretty low, but they have been a fairly consistent source of visitors, which is what I wanted to highlight, but maybe didn't convey strongly enough above. My traffic will drop if I don't post regularly or produce new content to share, but GitHub badge clicks remain constant
