Give me some advice for my landing page

Hey all!

My team has completely transformed the previous product and come up with something totally fresh. In the new version of our product, you can capture screenshots, links, and more without typing a word, but just lean back and watch AI create a stunning card with a quick digest for you.

I have to say, it took a lot of courage for the team to make such a big change after working on the previous version for so long. But seeing us head in the right direction makes all the effort worthwhile.

So, I'm wondering if you could share some advice for our landing page, and we'd love to hear your thoughts.

Our landing page: https://www.trickle.so/

As a consumer, I gotta say, I like it when the landing page has a gif or video showing off the product. I really like to see what other people are saying about it too. I am no marketing expert though.

    1. 5

      Yeah it makes it catchyyy

    2. 3

yeah, I think it's a little wordy without gif or video

    3. 3

Absolutely, no doubt about it! We're in the process of putting together a demo video, and you'll be able to catch it on the landing page in a few days. Thanks for the suggestion, much appreciated! 🙌

Let me check you site ...

This is main the message in there ...

"Turn Your Digital Chaos into Gold
Your AI quick-recall sidekick transforms scattered information into accessible and insightful memories."

"Turn Your Digital Chaos into Gold" ... vague text ... and confusing ...

    "Your AI quick-recall sidekick" ... your ? i don't have an AI ... :)

"transforms scattered information into accessible and insightful memories." ... super vague text ..."

So what do you really sell ? Explain it in a simple message. :)

You tried when you wrote this message in this post ...

"you can capture screenshots, links, and more without typing a word, but just lean back and watch AI create a stunning card with a quick digest for you" ... still a foggy message ...

"you can capture screenshots and more without typing a word" ... how ? what is doing that ?

"... watch AI create a stunning card with a quick digest for you" ... so this AI reads my mind ? i don't have to input nothing ?

Make an explain video of the all process. :)

I wish the best of luck to your project

    Pedro

While it’s true that a video demo would be beneficial - basic logic is still enough to imagine the answers to your questions based on the info on the landing page. Nothing confusing on the site. I personally got intrigued. But yes, because it’s a bit too abstract (due to a lack of screenshots of the process or a demo video) I would hesitate to sign up.

      1. 1

This week, we're gonna drop a demo video and some cool use cases. We're also gonna tweak the app itself.

    2. 3

Hey Pedro, it's Jarod here from the same team as Min. I'm pleasantly surprised you went through the copy word by word and gave us such direct thoughts. Big thanks for that.
I've decided not to dive straight into explaining what Trickle's all about. Instead, I'm going to take these valuable pointers back to the drawing board and make some tweaks. Then, I'll bring it back for everyone to take a peek and see if we've leveled up.

Oh, and by the way, about the demo video, we're on it, and hopefully, you'll have something to check out in days.

Once again, major thanks for dropping such gold nuggets of feedback. And we'd be stoked to have you on board as one of the early-bird Trickle testers. Of course, I'll provide a discount code later. 😉

It looks beautiful. I really like this current design trend with the extremely flat design (kinda what Gumroad and Notion and Descript are doing).

But honestly I don't really understand what your product does. If it helps at all, the first thing that came to my mind, is it like Pinterest? For organizing ideas and get inspiration and stuff?

    1. 1

Thanks for your thoughts! Yes, the concept does indeed have plenty of room for improvement. I'll try to use simpler and more solid language to explain what Trickle is.

  4. 5

For me, it's too abstract. The concept is intriguing, but I can't envision myself using it because I still don't understand what it is at a practical level. vkubo mentioned a demo video, that would go a long way. Beyond that, I'd say the first section or two of the page can be abstract, but it should quickly put the site visitor in the driver's seat of the tool, show how it solves real-world problems.

    1. 1

Yes, strong statements along with a few use cases and a demo video are what I need to effectively tell the story of Trickle.

  5. 5

looks great Min! took some time to review your landing page and made a short video for you

    https://video.drift.com/v/abu7W5jWwzAqGYDEP1aQINzrBDXyPYVIb91xsiXyBF4/

    1. 1

Really appreciate the video you made! It's very inspiring, providing such a high level of detail. I agree that the benefits should come first instead of the features. For our users, it's always important to know what advantages we can offer and how we can improve their lives.

      1. 1

you're welcome Min! Glad you found it useful :)

  6. 5

Once you go below the fold, there are no CTAs. Add more buttons!

Some subtle animations will make the LP flow better.

Do you have any social proof to show? Add it.

    FAQs? Add them too.

    I hope it helps.

    1. 2

Thank you! These are really helpful ones.

  7. 4

The UI is so good. But I think you should make the website more interactive.

    1. 1

      Thank you! This's very helpful.

  8. 4

Hi, Beautiful site. If you're trying to validate a product you need to talk with people via zoom or in person.

Like value of talking with a single person is 100x getting someone on your landing page. And specifically I'd figure out who exactly you're building for and make sure that use case + value prop is clear. 🙂

    1. 2

You're absolutely right. I had initially wanted everyone to roast my landing page, but it ended up validating the product instead. That's fantastic! We aren't very adept at building in public. I'm wondering how you validate your product on the internet typically?

  9. 4

I would add Ctas in the middle and bottom of the landing page because the user is forced to scroll up to take action.

Another option to avoid including CTA everywhere on your landing page would be to make a sticky menu (which remains fixed to the scroll).

I hope it can help you :)

    1. 3

A sticky cta menu sounds great! I'd like to give it a try.

  10. 4

As @PedroMartins mentioned, the H1 title confuses me.

At first, I thought of a project manager, like Linear, or something similar to Notion for note-taking.

I think this change will make a significant impact.

    Good luck 🫡

    1. 4

Yeah, quite a few of our beta users have said the same thing. The title can't effectively convey what Trickle can do. And now on IH, many of you have told me the same thing, further proving that this H1 is not quite satisfying.

Now I find myself having a tough time defining our product since there are so many products like Notion dominating the market, and people always tend to compare us with them. The fact is we have nothing to do with note-taking. But wish me luck.

  11. 4

UI is good but UX is missing, please think about some action on landing page by the users

    1. 1

Yeah, the UX indeed seems compelling. We had quite an engaging UX design in our previous version, but this time, we want to refocus everyone's attention back on the content itself. I can't say whether additional UX serves as an enhancement or a distraction. I'll leave this topic open for discussion :)

  12. 4

Looks great! I think the pricing page CTA could be placed at the bottom of the landing page to encourage people to buy after they went through the landing page and another secondary CTA to encourage checking out your blog for example or subscribing to a newsletter that gives updates on your blog or to join your discord community etc

    1. 3

Great idea! This should be helpful for the conversion rate as people don't have to jump back and forth.

  13. 4

    I think it looks great

  14. 3

My 2 cents is that you got a nice website design, just i don't get what the product is doing exactly

  15. 3

I've to agree with several users here that the message isn't clear. It's not clear whether you're offering a product or service. You're trying to be cute with the copy but until it's very clear what you're offering, that copy isn't going to be effective.

I recommend that you dedicate some space to explaining your offering. I do like the color scheme of your site thought.

  16. 3

Hey so right off the back I could not understand what it does and who its for

  17. 3

The part for me that is missing is really addressing what problem this is solving and leading with that. Your main hero and message aren't clear enough on what it is you doing for the user.

If you could expand with visuals and copy how this fits into a person's daily life that would go a long way.

  18. 3

    Here’s my (very direct) feedback

“ Get a Photographic Memory, Literally.” is the only thing that caught my attention. I really didn’t care about the other headers at all.

All I want to know next is how exactly I get that photographic memory, which I couldn’t figure out, so I left.

Just my personal experience looking at your website for just 2 seconds.

  19. 3

Starting above the fold. The green colour I don't find welcoming or inviting. Emotionally stops me being interested

On the Above the fold: A clearer statement on what you do for me is of the utmopst importance. This line is vague. What digital chaos are you referring to? Maybe I don't relate with the word chaos so much as it makes it seems like it's out of my control and I don't position myself as a person that sees things as chaotic in my own life.

An explainer video here would be great as you need to quickly and practically show the customer what you assist with or problem you solve.

My biggest advice here would be to read a book called: Building a story brand.
Will massively assist on how to position yourself and communicate with your customers especially through your website

  20. 3

    Wow, what a great idea

  21. 3

Mainly I would change the hero it's quite a small hero, also the layout is quite simple and the lp is a bit short, I would create a larger lp that explains what your product does and explain the benefits in more detailed.

  22. 3

You have received great feedback from other IndieHackers members. I would like to add a useful tutorial for you.

As a new InieHacker, I am unable to post links. so, please search for "The Website Architect" channel on YouTube. He creates some of the best videos on website design.

    Please watch

    1. The Best Homepage Layout In Web Design
    2. Everything About Above The Folds
    3. How to Properly Layout A Website (For Beginners)

I would recommend watching all of his videos, but the ones I have listed above should be particularly helpful.

    1. 2

Thank you Evantix for listing all these. I'll definitely have a look at this channel :)

  23. 3

Is there a problem with the login function? I don't know why I can't log in.

    1. 2

Hey there! Mind giving me a quick rundown of where you ran into?

  24. 2

I think you should add specific use cases. As a user this helps me pattern match my need into an story of your product very fast. You want this to overcome the hesitation to try something new.

We were optimizing our landing page as well - we found it's helpful for the content to be easy to understand, conversational, like tell users exactly what the product is doing, a lot of marketing jargons seem to turn people off. Just my two cents.
