Give your opinion on my logo

Hi Indie Hackers,
a very first logo design for http://chatscope.io was made last night.

I would be grateful if you would like to take a look at it and express your opinion about what you associate it with, how do you like it, etc.
Any advice is appreciated.

Thank you, and have a good day.

Here's a quick test you can do yourself:

    1. make your logo tiny (like 30x30px). Is it still clearly visible?
    2. turn it upside down, does it still look "good"
    3. does it work with text
    4. does it work without colors

Before I saw what your product was, I thought it was a weird pie chart with certain slices being removed. It's only as I'm typing that I think I've realised that's meant to be mail? I think the confusion is coming from the blue circle and possibly how the mail icon has been drawn. I think that could be clearer.

I also don't understand what the small triangle is meant to convey at the bottom left.

Your product is nice, colourful and smooth designs. I think there's a bit of a disconnect with the current version of the logo.

I've started this sentence three times, so now I'm falling back on brutal honesty:

This really doesn't work at all. I would recommend you start from scratch, and I might consider finding someone else to design it.

The actual UI kit looks good - this is not up to that standard!

(Apologies if this was overly blunt, I couldn't figure out a better way to say it 🙃)

Thanks to everyone for the answers. I appreciate your time.

I have analyzed your opinions and gathered the most important recurring problems into points:

    1. It is not known what it is, it is not associated with a chat
    2. Weak in relation to the appearance of the product
    3. Too thin lines, which may cause bad appearance in small size
    4. Annoying little triangle
    5. Too abstract

Many of you have asked what it is, so in response to point 1:

It's simple :) - the whole shape is supposed to refer to a chat message bubble.
The big triangle is a paperplane - probably the most used icon for an instant messaging send button.

When designing, I wanted to avoid too obvious chat bubble that appears in almost every chat product logo.
Therefore, there is only a reference to its shape.

The association with PacMan or with biker/knight helmet is also an intended humorous effect.

As most of the feedback is negative or neutral with an indication of a negative one, I will try to redesign the logo according to your comments and allow myself to present you a new version for discussion in this thread soon.

For now, I have one more question: If you already know what the author meant when designing, your perception changes?

i dont know branding so take what i am saying with a grain of sand

it is too complicated. my eyes dont want to hover over it like they would with a piece of eye candy

My first impression was that it's a biker helmet. I agree with others that you'll run into problem when using it in smaller dimensions.

Given your Landing Page i'd propose to go with something like a chat bubble. That way I would've connected the dots when visiting your Landing Page.

The white lines in the circle are too tiny and won't be visible when the logo is small.

Interesting logo... I associate it with Pac-man eating a paper airplane, and I like the random triangle departing from Pac-man's rear end... but honestly, the more I stare at it, the less I understand what this logo means... maybe it's not an airplane... wait, is that the "scope" entering pac-man who is chatting with his mouth open??? But... dammit, why is the mini triangle falling off him???

It looks like that smiley face out of Nintendo games where you need to eat as much food to possible to get points :D Couldn't connect it to a chat kit.
