Giving Feedback: Sharing Experience vs. Generalized Thoughts

Have you ever asked for help on a particular topic and gotten a ton of very general responses that feel like people are just responding to feel good about themselves but not actually trying to help you?

Example:
Anyone have ideas on how to write engaging content about customer service?

Unhelpful Responses:
"Focus on your area of expertise. Know your customers. Write authentically."
"Write incredibly useful content with thorough explanations."
"Get creative and leverage your knowledge in a particularly area."

The above responses probably sound cool to the people who are writing them, but they're kinda obvious and really not helpful. Helpful feedback comes from experience.

Helpful Response:
"One thing that worked for me was using examples from real customer support tickets to further explain how to solve a specific customer support issue. When I did this, customers related better to my explanation because they saw how other customers similar issues were resolved."

The above response is more useful to me because it's actionable. I could actually take that information and apply it to my content.

You're absolutely right, but I think it depends on the engagement of the person asking the question. Unless the specific answer is straightforward, a lot of people who ask questions on here don't really interact in the comments section at all.

With a higher engagement from post authors, I've seen lots of specific answers being given out.

People should participate in the community and give back rather than just post their obligatory question once a month. That's the only strife I have.
